Suburban Wives Crime Drama Receives Put Pilot Commitment at NBC

In a pre-emptive buy, NBC has given a put pilot commitment to a drama from The Family creator Jenna Bans. The project hails from NBC’s sister studio Universal TV and stems from the overall deal Bans signed there in July.

Written and executive produced by Bans, the untitled drama follows three good girl mothers and wives from the suburbs of Detroit as they descend together into a life of crime.

Launching strong NBC drama series produced by Uni TV has been a priority for the network and a top task for the new regime at the studio. This is a rare big commitment for a project coming from a network’s own studio, indicating the high hopes for the drama. NBC so far this buying season has given put pilot commitments to a Marcia Clark legal drama from ABC Studios and police procedural Family Honor from 20th TV as well as a pilot production commitment to the Amy Poehler-produced comedy The Baby starring Seann William Scott, from Uni TV.
