Oooh! It feels great to be back in New Orleans! I missed the crew and am super excited they are back!
The episode starts with a burlesque show and a bang! Literally, there are ladies in little red outfits and fishnets when the shooting begins. Four people go down.
Then we get to hear that fabulous theme song. Boom, boom, boom! Bang, bang, bang, bannnng! Yes please!
LaSalle and Pride are catching up over their brief “summer break” as they walk to the crime scene. LaSalle keeps it classy and won’t let Pride know about all of the ladies he’s hooked up with during his trip home.
Uh oh! Three wounded, including a sailor in serious condition, and one dead. Dr. Loretta joins Pride and LaSalle at the crime scene. After a little bit of investitaging, it’s starting to look like this is the work of a sniper. It brings back terrifying memories from a sniper attack in NOLA (New Orleans) forty years ago.
Pride is stressed. There’s a sniper afoot and the team is under review.
Aw! Sebastian is afraid of heights. He triangulates where the victims were shot and he finds the sniper’s nest. He’s so smart! No trace evidence? The sniper is a pro! Eek!
Sebastian asks if Pride has heard from Brody. Pride has left her a message, but he hasn’t gotten a hold of her yet… Brody, where art thou?
Pride visits the hospital to talk to his friend’s wife. She is watching over her husband who has sustained life threatening wounds after being shot at the burlesque show. He comforts her while asking tough questions. Pride isn’t sure if the sniper was aiming for his friend or if he was just in the wrong place at the wrong time.
BRODY! Pride has to step away for a phone call from Brody. I hope she’s coming back soon! I miss her! Pride does too.
Awww! Percy a.k.a. Country Mouse is back! She and Percy have a bit of an awkward moment while reuniting. I think eventually they might just fall in love… But we’ll see! When it happens though, you heard it here first! ;)
LaSalle catches Percy up on the case. The murder victims were shot straight through the heart over a half a mile away. They have got one dangerous criminal on their hands.
Percy asks if they are being reviewed by D.C. LaSalle thinks no news is good news, but Percy isn’t as confident.
NOOOOOO! Pride says he just spoke to Merri, then he drops a massive truth bomb and says that she isn’t coming back? 0_0 This is terrible news!
I had to mull this news over a long commercial break. I’m not happy! I loved the team they had in NOLA! Maybe she’ll come back? I did a quick Google search… It’s not looking good, folks.
Percy and LaSalle don’t want to accept that Brody has quit. Pride doesn’t look happy. Patton joins the team and hears the bad news. Percy is taking the news the hardest. She feels abandoned. Patton is worried about Sebastian, who hasn’t heard the bad news yet.
The team focuses on the case and they don’t have much yet. The sniper has disabled cameras around the scene and is called a “ghost.” That is not good.
The mayor calls Pride. He wants him to solve this case like yesterday. He wants it fixed ASAP! He doesn’t want the city and tourism to take a hit because of the sniper. This has more victims written all over it… NOT GOOD! That sniper is totally going to hit again!
Loretta has officially linked the first and second murder victims. They were both killed with a single shot to the heart. Pride thinks the snipers are shooting other people to make the attacks look random. That way, the victim they kill doesn’t draw as much attention.
Sebastian thinks he might have a lead. He finds the sniper’s nest from the first shooting. Looks like it took place on a bridge. Pride thinks there must be video footage somewhere of the sniper. He’s proud of Sebastian. All I can think is… Poor Sebastian! He doesn’t know about Brody yet.
Pride and Loretta have a heart to heart. Loretta was Merri’s landlord. She knew that Brody was leaving. She tells Pride that Brody was afraid to talk to her because she didn’t want him to be disappointed in her. Pride feels terrible. He feels like it is his fault. He feels like he could have prevented Brody from leaving.
Uh oh! Sebastian walks in during the conversation and hears that Brody left. He looks heartbroken. Poor guy!
Patton is doing his computer thing and he notices that cameras are going down around Champion Square. LaSalle thinks they might have a lead. I think the sniper is about to strike again.
Uh oh! Someone just got shot in the leg! Now the shoulder! Uh oh! A man has been shot through the heart.
Percy and LaSalle think they’ve found the sniper. They chase her through an office building and on to the roof. Well… this isn’t good… The person running away stops and turns around… She’s wearing an FBI vest. Why wouldn’t the crew know about the FBI being in town? This does not look good!
Oooh! That FBI agent is sassy! She blames Percy and LaSalle for letting the sniper get away. That’s not very nice. Wait… Are they already foreshadowing who will replace Brody? Say it isn’t so!
The FBI agent isn’t playing nice. She looks real familiar. I did a quick search and I know what I recognize her from! She was a cast member on 24! Now I bet you hear that little clock ticking sound just like me!
Back to the episode the new FBI agent, Tammy Gregorio, says she was sent by D.C. because they want the crime solved like yesterday. As soon as City Mouse and Country Mouse here “D.C.” their ears perk up and not in a good way. They are worried about being investigated.
Oooh! Pride puts Gregorio in her place. He’s pissed no one told him about Gregorio being involved in the investigation.
The mayor is on television being interviewed. He tells everyone not to worry.
LaSalle and Percy have another awkward moment. She doesn’t want to talk about their, “stupid hug.” Oooooooooh!
Patton is back with info on the victims. They were all living the highlife and had way more money than they should have done. The sailor doesn’t fit the same description.
Gregorio meets Loretta. She comes off cold and rude. While giving a run down, she accidentally admits to being in town during the first shooting. LIAR, LIAR, PANTS ON FIRE! She said D.C. sent her down to help with the case. Turns out, she was already in town and investigating Pride and his team! WHAMMY!
Pride is pissed! He confronts Charlene about not letting Pride know about Gregorio. The Execute Assistant Director from the D.C. office says it was his call. The EAD tells Pride that he and Gregorio were sent down to investigate Pride and his team after they were placed on administrative leave. He’s a big jerk. I don’t like him one bit and by the looks of it, neither does Pride.
The EAD asks about Brody. Pride doesn’t tell him that Brody isn’t coming back. He’s keeping a big secret. I hope it doesn’t bite him in the behind later.
The EAD also shares that the mole terrorist (from season two) has other accomplices in the area. Looks like the D.C. folks will be sticking around for a while.
Pride tells him to focus on the sniper because his people aren’t the accomplices. GET ‘EM PRIDE!
Pride is cooking. He even makes Percy a vegan breakfast. My vegetarian self is very happy right now.
The team thinks that the sniper was going after Gilbert, the restaurant owner, NOT the Master Chief! Turns out Gilbert has been living outside of his means… He just purchased a beachfront condo with cash. Shady! Shady! Shady!
The murder victims were taking money from someone… More shadiness!
The team has a suspect tanks to Gregorio. His name is Costas. They think the murder victims were helping Costas blow up the fort (season two). This doesn’t sound good!
The team thinks that the sniper is going to try to kill Gilbert on his way out of the hospital. He can’t stay in the hospital because he requires a transplant. They are in a tricky situation!
Pride, LaSalle, Percy, and Gregorio come up with a plan. They are going to take the sniper down before he can shoot Gilbert.
We cut to the sniper setting up to hit Gilbert in the ambulance transfer. Things are not looking good!
Pride and LaSalle get into the ambulance as Percy and Gregorio set up on the roof to find the sniper. Gregorio is ready to snipe the sniper.
Things are getting tense! FIND THE SNIPER, PERCY! FIND HIM!
Oooh! Way to go, Percy! Just in the nick of time! She gives Gregorio the location and Gregorio shoots the sniper right through the heart and says, “Karma’s a bitch.”
I could learn to like this Gregorio…
Pride and LaSalle are happy they caught sniper, but they realize that Gregorio will now be giving them her full attention…
The team knows D.C. will be sticking around for a while. There could be more terrorists in the area.
Aw! They are looking at Brody’s desk… Percy doesn’t want to move her stuff. She can’t believe Merri isn’t coming back. Me either, Percy… Me either…
The first episode of season three ends with the burlesque show taking center stage in Pride’s bar. Patton is taking it all in while Sebastian is depressed about Brody. Well, GET IT, Loretta! I love her! Meanwhile, Pride has been named a judge for the burlesque show. He doesn’t look sad about it either. The last scene shows Pride with a drink in his hand and a smile on his face.
***
Talk about a sad but great opening episode to season three! I love when one of my favorite shows comes back on! I feel like I’m reuniting with old friends who I haven’t seen in years.
Brody’s departure is a huge loss for the show. Maybe she’ll come back one day? I can hope/wish, right?
I do think Gregorio brings an interesting storyline and personality to the team. Hopefully she’ll be a good fit and will soon realize the team isn’t full of terrorist moles.
