The eight-episode “Haters Back Off” will be released Oct. 14 at 12:01 am PT on Netflix. The series was filmed in Vancouver this spring, with the location standing in for Miranda’s hometown of Tacoma, Wash.
“Haters Back Off,” which takes its name from an early Miranda Sings catchphrase, keys off a range antecedents including “Napoleon Dynamite” and Pee-wee Herman. The story delves into her family life and follows her unlikely rise to digital stardom powered by her unshakable belief that she was born famous but that nobody knows it yet.
The series stars Colleen Ballinger as Miranda Sings, Steve Little (“Eastbound & Down”) as Miranda’s overly confident and utterly misguided Uncle Jim, Angela Kinsey (“The Office”) as Miranda’s mom, Bethany, and Erik Stocklin as Miranda’s neighbor and best friend, Patrick.
