Netflix has rounded out the cast of its limited period drama series Godless from Steven Soderbergh and Scott Frank. Production has begun in Santa Fe, NM for premiere worldwide on Netflix in 2017.

The six-episode series, set in the expansive landscape of the great western frontier, centers around Frank Griffin (Jeff Daniels), a menacing outlaw who is terrorizing the West as he hunts down Roy Goode (Jack O’Connell), his son-like partner turned mortal enemy. While Roy hides at Alice Fletcher’s (Michelle Dockery) ranch, Frank’s chase leads him to the quiet town of La Belle, N.M. — which is mysteriously made up entirely of women.

Scoot McNairy (Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice), is confirmed for the role of Bill McNue, the aging sheriff of La Belle. He’s joined by Sam Waterston (Law & Order) as Marshal John Cook, the law in Santa Fe and on the hunt for Griffin; Kim Coates (Sons of Anarchy) as Ed Logan, an arrogant and abrasive company man who comes into La Belle; Audrey Moore (Better Call Saul) as Sarah Doyle, a randy woman in her thirties dying for a man’s company; Christiane Seidel (Boardwalk Empire) as Martha, a mysterious German woman who raises some suspicion; Randy Oglesby (Independence Day) as Asa Leopold, one of the only surviving men and runs the dry goods store; Justin Welborn (Justified) as Floyd Wilson, the skillful tracker in Griffin’s gang of outlaws; Christopher Fitzgerald (Young Frankenstein) as J.J. Valentine, the smooth talking president of the Quicksilver Mining Company looking to take over the mine in La Belle. The cast also includes previously announced Samantha Soule as Charlotte Temple and Whitney Able as Anna McNue.

Soderbergh, Frank and Casey Silver are executive producers, and Frank serves as both writer and director on the project.
