EW can exclusively reveal that early in the second season, things will heat up between Dr. Halstead (Nick Gehlfuss) and pathologist Nina Shore (Patti Murin), who was introduced last season.
“I’m really excited for fans to see how season 2 begins,” Gehlfuss tells EW. “Things get intimate between my character, Dr. Halstead, and pathologist Nina Shore. Fun fact: Patti Murin, who plays Nina, also happens to be Colin Donnell’s real-life wife. I just hope he’s not on set when our characters find themselves in a romantic embrace!”
Despite this new romance, “[Will’s] feelings for Natalie [Torrey DeVitto] will never go away,” EP Andrew Schneider says.
