In a pre-emptive buy, ABC has given a put pilot commitment to Charlie Foxtrot, a single-camera comedy from writer Sam Sklaver (Blunt Talk) and Aaron Kaplan’s Kapital Entertainment. It will be produced by ABC Studios.
Penned by Sklaver, Charlie Foxtrot –– military slang for a clusterfuck — centers on Charlie Taylor, a cautious, quiet dentist stationed at Fort Bragg, who, after his brother Joe is killed in action, must honor his promise to take care of Joe’s teenage step-kids and fiancée, Angelina, a defiant troublemaker whose impulsive behavior forces Charlie to be the hero he never imagined he could be.
Sklaver executive produces with Kaplan and Dana Honor. Sklaver, who is co-executive producer on Starz’s Blunt Talk, also is consulting producer on Kapital’s new ABC comedy series American Housewife. He previously teamed with Kaplan three years ago for a single-camera comedy about a father with early onset Alzheimer’s which also was set up at ABC and ABC Studios. He is repped by WME and manager Stephanie Davis.
