Jason Katims and his Universal TV-based True Jack Prods. landed new medical drama series Pure Genius on the CBS fall schedule. Now the network has bought a new hourlong project from the company in a competitive situation with three networks interested. The project, written by TV writer/playwright Annie Weisman, has received a script commitment with penalty.
The legal dramedy, from Universal TV, is about two sisters on opposite sides of the political spectrum who come together to save their father’s law firm when scandal puts him behind bars. Weisman executive produces with True Jack’s Katims and Michelle Lee.
Weisman has a long relationship with Katims and True Jack, having worked on two of their series, Hulu drama The Path, created by another previous Katims collaborator, Jessica Goldberg. and NBC comedy About a Boy. Weisman’s TV series credits also include ABC’s Suburgatory and Desperate Housewives.
