ABC has put in development a single-camera sibling comedy from comedy veterans Peter Murrieta and Bobby Bowman. The project, starring Latino comedians Felipe Esparza and Dustin Ybarra, is produced by 3 Arts and ABC Studios.
Written by Murrieta and Bowman, the untitled single-camera project centers on three very different adult siblings — two of them played by Esparza and Ybarra — who live under one roof in Boyle Heights, a working-class, predominantly Mexican American neighborhood of Los Angeles. One’s a striver destined to be Mayor, one’s a troublemaker beloved by the neighborhood, and one’s the baby and caretaker, destined to hold the family together.
Murrieta and Bowman executive produce with 3 Arts’ David Miner and Greg Walter.
Adding a Latino family comedy has been a priority for ABC which had series Cristela, on which Murrieta worked as a writer, and last year ordered a Gabriel Iglesias pilot.
