Killjoys, “I Love Lucy,” was written by Jon Cooksey and was directed by Grant Harvey, whose other credits include 12 Monkeys, Orphan Black, and Bitten. The various threads of the story continue to move forward. I like the way the writers are drawing the story out without making it feel like we’re spinning our wheels. There are some interesting developments in this episode, and it feels like some of the threads are starting to come together.
Like every episode this season, we begin with two members of the team serving a warrant. This week it’s D’Avin (Luke Macfarlane) and John (Aaron Ashmore) working together. It’s clear that D’Avin is still learning as a RAC agent.
Dutch (Hannah John-Kamen) decides that the first thing they need to do is track down what the green plasma really is. They turn to Pree (Thom Allison) for help.
We discover that John has a pet that he’s pretty attached to. John is also really impressed by a new ship. We see a new side to Lucy (Tamsen McDonough), and she and John share a moment that you won’t want to miss. This episode reminded me of a couple of classic Star Trek episodes…
Dutch trades stories with Romwell – guest star Keon Alexander. John and D'Avin get the run around. Alvis (Morgan Kelly) gets a lead. Sabine’s (Tori Anderson) peaches don’t agree with her. Pawter (Sarah Power) takes her place on the council and finds out something about the wall. It seems that there may be a new danger on the horizon though that has nothing to do with the Company.
And for fun, here are some lines from the episode – in no particular order and you’ll have to guess who the speaker is!
Do you know when you’re hurting people?
It’s okay to dwant him. (And that’s not a typo…)
You didn’t read the whole warrant.
Like a shared hypnosis.
I’m a wizard!
They’re very bite-y.
Stop talking. Be naked.
I left my zeenon laser in my other pants.
Rich girlfriends are the best.
I sense a reluctance and a desire to be the center of attention.
Not everyone has a happy ending, so be happy when you can.
You try hacking tech that doesn’t even exist in the Quad!
This is gonna suck.
I guess you’re just another sore loser who doesn’t know how to play the game.
Lucy. Take us in before Johnny wets his pants.
I had teeth in my stomach.
Everything’s legal somewhere.
There are a lot of different ways that a man can worship.
