Brooklyn Nine-Nine - Season 4 - Jorma Taccone to Guest as Holt's New Boss

Raymond Holt is no longer the man in charge, and the man in charge is no Raymond Holt.

Jorma Taccone — a.k.a. one-third of The Lonely Island — will guest-star in the season 4 premiere of Brooklyn Nine-Nine as Holt’s new boss in Florida, EW has learned. Andre Braugher’s displaced captain — who is currently under the name Greg in witness protection with Jake (played by Taccone’s Lonely Island cohort Andy Samberg)— finds work at Frank’s Fun Zone, where he reports to Taylor (Taccone).

“In the past, we’ve talked about doing something with Jorma when it’s the right thing,’” Samberg tells EW. “The [writers] came up with this character, and [Brooklyn co-creator] Dan Goor was like, ‘Do you think this is right for Jorma?’ and I was like, ‘Oh, 100 percent!’ And he’s one of my best friends on Earth, so it’s so fun having him around. We have such a shorthand that it’s fun to act with him.”

As you can deduce from this behind-the-scenes photo, Jake, er, Larry also will wind up under Taylor’s employ at Frank’s Fun Zone. What kind of a boss is he? “He’s kind of a surfer dude; he’s very laid-back,” hints Goor, quipping: “He’s proud of how hard he had to work to inherit the business from his father.” And he’s not on the same wavelength — or even the same planet — as our disciplined, determined captain. “Holt is super overqualified, and this is a man who has no ambition or really any focus of any kind,” relishes Samberg. “He misinterprets everything that Holt does.”
