Get ready to ramp up your cyber-paranoia – Mr. Robot returns for season two on Wednesday, July 13 at 10/9c on USA Network. Did the premise of Mr. Robot have you hooked from the first episode of the first season last summer? Or did you hear the fan buzz about the show that seemed to be mirroring or anticipating or even hacking the news get you to tune in and get hooked? Or maybe you really got interested in the show when you heard about all the awards the show and its stars had won? Personally, I was intrigued by the premise and was hooked by the outstanding acting and terrific writing. The good news is that if you missed season one, you still have time to catch up before the season two premiere! Here’s a recap video [SPOILER] to help get you up to speed:

The show centers on the group of hackers that comprise fsociety and really taps into our real world fears about surveillance and cyber-security using realistic technology. The show presents authentic hacking – it’s not magic; they actually show you how they do what they do! Those screenshots you see? Those are real code!

While the story contains a lot of ripped from the headlines, global events, at its core, the story is about Elliot, and it’s a very traditional little guy – think David – against the big corporation – think Goliath. Elliot may sometimes question his sanity, but he’s the guy who’s fighting for justice. The show is about the current generation taking issue with corporate power and being anti-establishment.

What’s ahead for season two? There will be 12 episodes – two more than season one. The show is going to really focus on an ensemble version of the story with four or five different worlds as we follow the various characters. The world of Mr. Robot is very different after the hack and there will be some unexpected ramifications from it. Elliot knows who Mr. Robot is now, and he wants him out of his life!

Mr. Robot follows Elliot Alderson (Rami Malek), a young cyber-security engineer who becomes involved in the underground hacker group fsociety, after being recruited by their mysterious leader (Christian Slater).  Following the events of fsociety’s 5/9 hack on multi-national company Evil Corp, the second season will explore the consequences of that attack as well as the illusion of control. The series also stars Portia Doubleday, Carly Chaikin, Grace Gummer, Michael Cristofer and Stephanie Corneliussen. Malek won the Critics’ Choice Award for Best Actor in a Drama Series, and he was nominated for the Golden Globe Award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series. Slater won both the Critics’ Choice Award for Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series and the Golden Globe Award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Series, Mini-Series or Motion Picture Made for Television.

New recurring guest stars include Craig Robinson (“The Office”), hip hop artist Joey Bada$$, Sandrine Holt (“Fear The Walking Dead”), Michael Maize (“National Treasure: Book of Secrets”), Dorothi Fox (“Run All Night”) and Luke Robertson (“The Americans”). Returning cast members include BD Wong (“Law & Order: SVU”), Gloria Reuben (“Saints & Sinners”), Michael Drayer (“Vinyl”), Michel Gill (“House of Cards”), Ron Cephas Jones (“The Blacklist”), Sunita Mani (“5 Stages”), Azhar Khan (“Veep”) and Ben Rappaport (“The Good Wife”).

Mr. Robot hails from writer and executive producer Sam Esmail (“Comet”) as well as Anonymous Content executive producers Steve Golin (“True Detective”) and Chad Hamilton (“Breakup at a Wedding”) and is produced by Universal Cable Productions. It’s this team that produced the 2015 Peabody Award winner and the show that also won the Critics’ Choice Award for Best Drama Series and the Golden Globe for Best Television Series, Drama.

Don’t forget to tune in to the season two premiere of Mr. Robot on Wednesday, July 13 at 10/9c on USA Network.
