Killjoys “Schooled” was directed by Ruba Nadda with a story by Jennifer Kennedy and Julian Doucet and Doucet providing the teleplay. Nadda has primarily directed films and shorts that she’s written herself, and Kennedy’s other credits include Justified, King, and The Wilkinsons. It’s another fast paced episode that reveals more mysteries than it answers.
We find out what happened to Pawter (Sarah Powers) and that she has a hidden talent – or two. Alvis (Morgan Kelly) makes an appearance too, but the episode really focuses on John (Aaron Ashmore), D’Avin, and Dutch. Though they do run into another old “friend” - Delle Seyah Kendry (Mayo Nguyen).
The three end up going back to school. The episode opens up the opportunity to get some insight into D’Avin and John’s relationship. Neither D’Avin nor Dutch are very comfortable around kids. D’Avin proves how much he hates bullies.
Look for a return to form in the fight department – there’s one really good one! John is surprised by someone’s technical abilities. There’s also a really interesting game of two lies and one truth.
And finally, here are some dialogue teases – in no particular order. See how many you can link to the character!
I need your full focus now.
You lead, I shoot, Johnny gives a shit.
I do love a road trip.
You suck the fun out of everything.
If we get attacked by zombie kids, I’m going to be so mad.
I like your hair. I’ll sell that first.
I need to know who’s behind this.
Don’t you dare fantasize about this later.
I’m starting to think my demons are haunting all of us.
Ok. Now it’s weird.
A brother will always have your back.
You work for the RAC. I don’t want to get you in trouble.
He may be a scootch late.
My tribe’s more fun.
What’s it like living a life so free of nuance?
I promised I’d come back for you, and I did.
Chemistry’s a bitch and so am I!
You’re no one’s bus driver, and I’m not a fool.
You are a shitty big brother.
That is how a bar brawl is born.
It’s a lot creepy.
