Months ahead of its September season three premiere, the Viacom-owned cable network has renewed the Sutton Foster comedy from exec producer Darren Star.
The renewal comes as production on season three is set to begin this week in New York and after season two of the single-camera comedy posted gains from its freshman run. The sophomore outing posted double-digit gains — up 67 percent among adults 25-54, 63 percent among adults 18-49 and more. TV Land also noted that VOD orders tripled from the season two premiere to its finale.
"The show is a force in and of itself, so it’s a no-brainer to renew it again,” TV Land exec vp development and original programming Keith Cox said. “Critics and fans love it, and I know Darren and the entire cast and crew behind ‘Younger’ will continue to deliver at the top of their game.”
Season three premieres Wednesday, Sept. 28 at 10 p.m. following the second season of Impastor, which was pushed back from its summer bow to pair with the cabler's biggest hit.
