Nicole Ari Parker is set for a key co-starring role opposite Freddie Stroma, Josh Bowman and Genesis Rodriguez in Kevin Williamson’s new ABC time-travel drama series Time After Time. Parker will replace Regina Taylor who played the role in the pilot as the character is being re-conceived.
Using the 1979 novel by Karl Alexander and movie as a starting point, Time After Time chronicles the epic adventures of young H.G. Wells (Stroma). Parker will play the intelligent and sophisticated Vanessa Anders, a billionaire philanthropist, avid art collector and the current owner of the Time Machine. She will become a trusted ally of H.G. even as she guards the secrets that could change his past and alter his future. In the trailer for the series, released by ABC in May, Vanessa reveals to H.G. that she is his great granddaughter.
I hear that the character of Vanessa, as originally conceived, did not test nearly as well as the rest of the pilot, so it will be reworked. Williamson wrote Time After Time and is executive producing for Warner Bros. TV is the studio.
