  • 24:05 - Girlboss - Ellie Reed to Co-Star in Netflix Comedy Series
    Stage and TV actress and writer Ellie Reed has has booked a co-starring role opposite Britt Robertson in Girlboss, Netflix’s 13-episode comedy series inspired by Sophia Amoruso’s popular autobiography. Additionally, she has signed with CAA for representation.

    Written/executive produced by Pitch Perfect scribe Kay Cannon and to be directed by Christian Ditter, Girlboss hails from Charlize Theron’s Denver & Delilah production company. It centers on Sophia (Robertson), a rebellious, broke anarchist who refuses to grow up. She stumbles upon her passion of selling vintage clothes online and becomes an unlikely businesswoman. As she builds her retail fashion empire, she realizes the value and the difficulty of being the boss of her own life. Reed will play Annie, Sophia’s (Robertson) best friend, who is a bit of a wild woman and the life of any party.

  • 22:00 - Younger - Season 3 - Noah Robbins to Recur
    After taking his licks as Grease: Live‘s Eugene, Noah Robbins is graduating to an appropriately full-circle role on Younger, TVLine has learned exclusively.

    Robbins will appear in four episodes of the TV Land comedy’s upcoming third season as Bryce Reiger, a Silicon Valley genius. Self-described as being “a little on the spectrum,” Bryce — who also happens to be 26 — is interested in investing in a “century-old publishing company.” (Oh, Empirical, you don’t look a day over 50!)

  • 22:00 - MOVIES: Minecraft - Warner Bros Announces Release Date
    Warner Bros. has revealed that the spot it reserved for May 24, 2019 with an event title will be occupied by their feature take of the hit PC and app game Minecraft. Pic will be presented in 3D and on Imax.

    Summer 2019’s schedule is still filling out and the only other title slated for May so far is Disney/Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War Part II on May 3. On June 14 of that year, Warner Bros. has the second part of Justice League.

  • 21:50 - Guerrilla - Freida Pinto Cast as the Female Lead
    Slumdog Millionaire alum Freida Pinto is headed for Showtime.

    Pinto has been cast as the female lead in the premium cable network's six-part miniseries Guerrilla, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

    From exec producers John Ridley and Idris Elba (who co-stars), Guerrilla is described as a love story set against the backdrop of one of the most politically explosive times in U.K. history. It centers on politically active couple Jas and Marcus, whose relationship and values are tested when they liberate a political prisoner and form a radical underground cell in 1970s London. Their ultimate target becomes the Black Power Desk, a true-life, secretive counter-intelligence unit within Special Branch dedicated to crushing all forms of black activism.

    Pinto is set as Jas Mitra, while the role of Marcus has not yet been cast. Jas is a passionate and politically driven individual. As a member of a newly formed radical underground cell, Jas helps liberate a charismatic convict from prison in an effort to lead the street fight against social injustice in 1971 London.

    American Crime's Ridley will write, direct and executive produce the limited series. Elba (Luther, Beasts of No Nation) will co-star and serve as an executive producer through his Green Door Pictures. Ridley will write the majority of the episodes and will direct the first two episodes and the finale, with Emmy nominee Sam Miller (Luther) directing the remaining episodes. Also set to exec produce the series are Patrick Spence and Katie Swinden for Fifty Fathoms, Tracy Underwood for ABC Signature and Michael McDonald for Stearns Castle. Guerrilla will begin production in London late this summer, and will be a co-production between Fifty Fathoms and ABC Signature. The drama will air on both Showtime and Sky Atlantic. A premiere date has not yet been determined.




  • 22:40 - The Deuce - Ralph Macchio to Recur in HBO Drama Series
    Ralph Macchio has booked a recurring role on The Deuce, HBO’s upcoming drama series starring James Franco and Maggie Gyllenhaal. Written by The Wire creator David Simon and longtime collaborator George Pelecanos and directed by Michelle MacLaren, The Deuce follows the story of the legalization and subsequent rise of the porn industry in New York’s Times Square from the early 1970s through the mid-1980s, exploring the rough-and-tumble world that existed there until the rise of HIV, the violence of the cocaine epidemic, and the renewed real estate market ended the bawdy turbulence.

    Macchio will play Officer Haddix, a jaded vice cop patrolling Times Square in the corrupt police force of 1970s New York. Macchio is coming off a sold-out run of off-Broadway hit A Room Of My Own and will be seen in upcoming indie comedy Lost Cat Corona.

  • 22:25 - 13 Reasons Why - Amy Hargreaves Joins Netflix Drama Series
    Amy Hargreaves (Homeland) is set as a series regular in Netflix‘s 13 Reasons Why, from producer Selena Gomez, writer Brian Yorkey, director Tom McCarthy, Anonymous Content and Paramount TV. Based on the bestselling 2007 YA book by Jay Asher, the series follows Clay (Dylan Minnette) through an emotional night when he receives a shoebox of cassette tapes from his late classmate and crush Hannah (Katherine Langford), after she recently committed suicide.

    Hargreaves will play Mrs. Jensen, Clay’s mother. She’s bright, involved, compassionate and concerned — or, as Clay calls it, “helicopter parenting.” An accomplished, fair-minded lawyer, Mrs. Jensen is less objective where her son is concerned.

    Six Feet Under alumna Frances Conroy has booked a lead role Spike’s new scripted drama series The Mist, based on the Stephen King novella, from TWC-Dimension Television. The 10-episode series tells a harrowing story about a seemingly innocuous mist that seeps into a small town and creates immense havoc. Conroy will play Nathalie, a modern-day ecological martyr. While she seemingly is more connected to nature than most people, her instincts about her fellow humans are dead on.

  • 22:20 - Superior Donuts - Rell Battle Upped to Regular for CBS' New Comedy Pilot
    Comedian Rell Battle has been promoted to regular on the new pilot for Superior Donuts, CBS multi-camera comedy starring Jermaine Fowler. Battle was a guest star in the original pilot for the show, written and executive produced by Neil Goldman & Garrett Donovan and Bob Daily. CBS recently ordered a second pilot for the sitcom, from CBS TV Studios, for midseason consideration. The project is recasting the co-lead opposite Fowler.

    Based on the play by Tracy Letts, Superior Donuts follows the relationship between the owner of a donut shop (the role that is being recast), his new young employee (Fowler) and their patrons in a gentrifying neighborhood of Chicago. Battle plays Sweatpants, Franco’s (Fowler) buddy.

  • 02:10 - Godless - Rob Morgan to Recur in Netflix's Limited Drama Series
    Rob Morgan has been cast in a recurring role in the Netflix limited period drama series Godless. Written, directed and executive produced by Scott Frank, Godless is a Western set in an 1800s New Mexico mining town. Morgan will play John Randall, joining previously announced cast Jeff Daniels, Jack O’Connell, Merritt Wever, Jeremy Bobb and Thomas Brodie-Sangster.

    Morgan will next be seen in Netflix’s Stranger Things, which premieres in July, and he recurs on Netflix series Daredevil and Luke Cage. He’s repped by TCA Jed Root, Harden-Curtis and Robyn Bluestone Management.

  • 21:15 - Prep - HBO Developing Curtis Sittenfeld’s Novel as Comedy Series
    HBO has acquired the rights to Curtis Sittenfeld’s bestselling debut novel Prep. It will be developed as a comedy series by former 30 Rock writer-producer Colleen McGuinness and Game of Thrones executive producer Carolyn Strauss.

    Prep, published by Random House, follows a Midwestern girl’s coming-of-age as she navigates an exclusive New England boarding school. It was named one of the top five works of fiction for 2005 by The New York Times.

    McGuinness will write the comedy series adaptation and will executive produce. Former HBO programming chief-turned-producer Strauss also will serve as executive producer.

    True Blood alum Chris Bauer and Gbenga Akinnagbe (The Wire) have booked series regular roles on The Deuce, HBO’s upcoming drama series starring James Franco and Maggie Gyllenhaal.

    Written by The Wire creator David Simon and longtime collaborator George Pelecanos and directed by Michelle MacLaren, The Deuce follows the story of the legalization and subsequent rise of the porn industry in New York’s Times Square from the early 1970s through the mid-’80s, exploring the rough-and-tumble world that existed there until the rise of HIV, the violence of the cocaine epidemic and the renewed real estate market ended the bawdy turbulence.

    Bauer will play Bobby Dwyer, Vincent and Frankie Martino’s brother-in-law, a construction foreman and family man whose eyes are opened by their adventures along the Deuce. Akinnagbe is Larry Brown, an intense and demanding pimp who physically intimidates his stable of women but also has moments that betray a conflicted, underlying humanity.
