The SpoilerTV 2016 Episode Competition - Day 1 - Round 1: Polls 1-4

Hey all,

After a nomination period spanning two and a half weeks, we can now begin the fourth edition of the SpoilerTV Episode Competition. The draw has been done, and is featured below. We only received just over 300 nominations this year (compared with almost 900 from last year), but we had a similar number of different episodes submitted, and I enjoy seeing the variety of what people want to see in the competition.

Anyway, onto the draw. The draw was done so that the top eight seeds (in bold) cannot face each other until the quarter-finals. Normally, I'd prevent any shows from facing another of its own episodes in the opening round, but this year, I decided to give that a miss and see what happens. And we've got one in-show battle in the first round...

The draw is as follows:

With regards to the top eight seeds: Person of Interest took the top seed place for the second year in a row, with "6,741" picking up 59 (yes, 59 - 300 nominations that cover about 300 different episodes means that there weren't huge amounts of nominations for particular episodes) votes; the show's 100th "The Day The World Went Away" picked up 31 to give it third seed. Outlander also had its two episodes in the top eight, with "Faith" at number two (47) and "Untimely Resurrection" at number five (18). Game of Thrones' "The Door" took fourth place with 28 nominations, before How to Get Away With Murder's "What Did We Do?", Fargo's "The Castle" and The Leftovers' "International Assassin" rounding out the top eight.

So, enough of all that. Let's move on to the actual competition...

The rules are as follows:
1. Two episodes go head to head for 24 hours. The episode that emerges as the winner will go through to the next round.
2. Vote for your favourite episode, and tell us what you voted for.
3. Tell others about the competition! Social media is your best friend in this competition if you want your favourite episode to win.
4. Be respectful. This is a competition, but be friendly. Let's not have any abuse directed at any person, fandom or show, as we've had on occasion in the past.

Our opening battle of the competition features The Leftovers' twisty, alt-universe hour "International Assassin" facing Supernatural's "Don't Call Me Shurley". We then move on as Grey's Anatomy's twelfth season finale "Family Affair" takes on Agents of SHIELD's Simmons-centric hour "4,722 Hours", before Bates Motel's "Forever" and American Crime Story's finale, "The Verdict", go head-to-head. Rounding out day one is Orphan Black's "The Scandal of Altruism" going up against Supernatural's other entry, "Baby".

Don’t forget to share the post; the more people vote, the more chance your episode has of winning!

Check back tomorrow for the next set of polls from round 1!
