Supergirl is putting a fresh (ahem) spin on the stunt-casting trope.
The now-CW drama has tapped Wonder Woman Lynda Carter to recur in Season 2 as the President of the United States, TVLine has learned.
Last March, Supergirl EP Greg Berlanti revealed that he tried — and failed — to lasso Carter for a Season 1 guest stint, telling reporters he had a “perfect role” in mind for the TV icon, but they “couldn’t work out her schedule.” He called it the “biggest disappointment for me this entire season.” Berlanti later confirmed that the role was the “female president of the United States.”
Carter played TV’s Wonder Woman from 1975-1979. She’ll make her Supergirl debut in Season 2’s third episode.
