Chicago Justice is bringing another Law & Order veteran onboard.
Former executive producer Michael S. Chernuchin has signed on as showrunner of the upcoming spinoff series, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
Set for a midseason debut on NBC,the legal drama follows the prosecutors and investigators at the Cook County State’s Attorney's Office. Just like their brethren in the Chicago P.D., the State’s Attorney’s dedicated team navigates heated city politics and controversy head-on while fearlessly pursuing justice. As they take on the city’s high-stakes and often media-frenzied cases, they must balance public opinion, power struggles within the system and their unwavering passion for the law.
Chernuchin was an executive producer on Law & Order from 1994-2004, and served as showrunner for the last two years of his tenure. He was also an executive producer on spinoff Criminal Intent and more recently worked on Starz pirate drama Black Sails.
