12 Monkeys - Fatherland - Advance Preview

12 Monkeys “Fatherland” was written by Oliver Grigsby and was directed by Guy Norman Bee, whose other credits include Supernatural, Arrow, and The Magicians. It’s always nice to have a new director who is able to seamlessly absorb the feel of the show and bring a wealth of action and effects expertise with him. This is another great episode with yet another great twist – I figured it out before the big reveal, but not by much!

Cassie (Amanda Schull) and Ramsey (Kirk Acevedo) continue to have their own agenda – which may put others in real danger and may even cost a life in this episode. The Red Storm continues to rage in 2044 and continues to move every closer to the Facility.

Deacon (Todd Stashwick) and Whitley (Demore Barnes) go on patrol together because Jones (Barbara Sukowa) needs more information. Whitley is asked to carry out orders that he only reluctantly agrees to perform. Deacon has something to tell Cassie. Cassie has something to tell Deacon.

Jones is not happy with Adler (Andrew Gillies). Olivia (Alisen Down) goes on a very long journey. It’s hard to tell whether there is more of HG Wells in this story or Mary Shelley.

Cole (Aaron Stanford) contacts an old friend who ends up being a big help. We find out how the corner of the Word of the Witness was removed and by whom. The title of the episode has more than one meaning.

And for fun, here is some dialogue from the episode in no particular order. Any guesses as to who the speakers are?

There is no we. Not anymore.
I had no idea it was so important to our history.
Nefarious characters coalesce around you like bum hairs in a drain.
We choose the wrong mission now, we don’t get a second chance.
The Witness spoke of you a great deal.
We’re always a step behind. For once, why don’t we take the fight to them?
The girl is everything.
These paradoxes are like gunshot wounds in time.
That part of me is long gone.
It won’t work. Nothing ever does when she plays God.
Sometimes, you just have to go it alone.
I too know what it’s like to be denied retribution. Every. Single. Day.
It was my purpose. A means to an end. For the good of the world.
If I were being forced to bet my life on a mission, I’d prefer it would be one of hope rather than revenge.
You have a high tolerance for pain.
You’re out for blood, but you’re blind.
You finally fit in around this place.
Do not be weakened by sympathy.

Don’t miss “Fatherland” – June 20 on Syfy at 9/8c!
