Scene Of The Week - May 22, 2016 + POLL

A weekly feature in which we're trying to find the most compelling, best acted, written, directed and just generally great, memorable scenes that we've seen in past seven days on TV.

12 MONKEYS, "Bodies of Water", May 16, 2016, Actors: Amanda Schull, Emily Hampshire, Alisen Down, The Scene: Jennifer saves Cassie
Aimee Hicks:
When you look up the definition of unlikely friends Cassie and Jennifer would be the faces you saw next to the definition. There is nothing about these two that should allow them to coincide in the same place without killing each other yet that’s exactly what happened in this episode. Not only did they forge this uneasy truce for the mission but they repeatedly had each other’s backs. This was best displayed in this scene when Jennifer made the decision to go back for Cassie. Given that earlier in the season Cassie tried to kill her no one would have blamed Jennifer for turning her back and leaving the good doctor to her fate. Instead she risked her own freedom to go back for Cassie and when she got to her companion she was actually tender with Cassie. Once she snapped Cassie out of her drugged haze she helped get her to her feet and spoke softly to the still dazed Cassie. It was a nice moment of friendship and hopefully a sign of changes to come for this duo. I believe they each have a lot to still offer the other in this complicated mission of theirs and I think their trust level greatly improved after this episode. It was spot on acting by Amanda and Emily and I hope these two get to have more adventures together this season.

BANSHEE, "Requiem", May 20, 2016, Actors: Antony Starr, Ulrich Thomsen and more, The Scenes: Lucas and Carrie say a final goodbye & Proctor comforts and then kills Burton
Samantha Benjamin:
Lucas and Carrie say a final goodbye. I've liked them since the beginning & that final goodbye was full of so many different emotions. The final season might not have been all that great, but it doesn't change the fact Banshee's one of my favourite shows and I'm going to miss it.
DarkUFO: So many from the finale, but I'm going to go with Proctor comforts and then kills Burton.

BATES MOTEL, "Norman", May 16, 2016, Actors: Freddie Highmore, Vera Farmiga
The Scene: Norman sees his dead mother
DarkUFO:
Norman sees his mother (who is dead) playing the piano and he joins her. Also picked by Darth Locke

BLINDSPOT, "If Love a Rebel, Death Will Render", May 16, 2016, Actors: Jay O. Sanders and more
The Scene: The death of Weller’s father
Prpleight:
What a way to flip the character's worlds upside down and keep the audience unsure about who and what Jane is.

DC'S LEGENDS OF TOMORROW, "Legendary", May 19, 2016, Actors: Wentworth Miller, Dominic Purcell, The Scene: Mick tells Snart that he’s a hero to him
Justyna K:
The show had a rocky start for sure but I ended up really enjoying it. Recently I caught up with the series and one of the things that made the biggest impression on me was the evolution of Mick's character. At the beginning he was the only member of the crew that I couldn't understand why was even recruited. He didn't seem to care about the mission or the people in general. After his big return, however, things started to change and eventually Heatwave became much more complex and interesting character than I expected. And then there's Snart. The one who never believed he could be a hero (just a simple "robber of ATMs") but gave up his life for the team. These two together were such a fun, dynamic duo! Shame they had to say goodbye. But if they did, I loved how it turned out. Mick, not one to speak much or get emotional, got to tell his best friend he's a hero to him, in a way, inspiring Snart to his future actions. Beautifully done and acted moment, one of my favorites on the show. Kudos!
Nirat Anop: I loved that Mick was able to bid his best friend farewell, in a sense. This scene to me was perfect. The scene showed how much Mick has grown as a character and really made you feel the weight of losing Snart, the partnership of Heatwave and Captain Cold will be dearly missed. Mick’s never been a guy to say much, but in that moment, everything he did say was perfect and meaningful.

GAME OF THRONES, "Book of the Stranger", May 15, 2016, Actors: Kit Harington, Sophie Turner and more, The Scene: Jon and Sansa reunite
Justyna K:
On the show where good things almost never happen, it's hard to even hope for a moment like that. Two members of the Stark family reunited at last! I have re-watched that scene a lot of times and it really gets me every single time. I absolutely loved every second of it (actually all of their moments) and the events at Castle Black continue to steal the show for me. Sure, I did enjoy the final scene with Dany as well, she's the expert at these powerful, epic sequences where she proves how strong she actually is, but the opening with Sansa and Jon is now probably one of my favorite scenes of the series. It's been six seasons since these two have seen each other and even then, in the pilot, they barely shared a screen. But their family bond now seems stronger than ever, after all the pain and tragedy they suffered in the past years. And for once, they get to stay together (for a while at least). The music, the actors' expressions, the emotions and direction of the scene - they're all perfectly done. And I'm so glad it later meant that Sansa's strength inspires Jon to keep fighting. Looks like the Battle of Winterfell is coming. Kudos!

GREY'S ANATOMY, "Family Affair", May 19, 2016, Actors: Sara Ramirez, Jessica Capshaw, The Scene: Arizona gives Callie permission to take their daughter
Maxine Sutton:
Arizona giving Callie permission to take their daughter, even handing over plane tickets across the country to follow her love. You know it wasn't really THE stand out scene of the episode (April's c-section was for me). But within minutes of the show ending Sara Ramirez announced her immediate departure from the show which catapulted her final scene to the top of the Grey's scene of the week contenders. Did the writers do justice to a beloved character 10 years on the show? Well that question will be debated ad infinitum over the coming weeks and months. For now though, we know that Callie and Arizona parted on good terms and free to live happy lives separately.

GRIMM, "The Beginning of the End", May 20, 2016, Actors: David Giuntoli and more
The Scene: Nick takes down all of his attackers
Prpleight:
Nick takes on a ton of Wesen and, with a smidgen of help from a stick, takes them all out. So much fun to see Nick go full on Grimm. Kind of makes me get why they had the reputation they had.

MARVEL'S AGENTS OF SHIELD, "Ascension", May 17, 2016, Actors: Luke Mitchell, Chloe Bennet and more, The Scene: Lincoln's sacrifice
Justyna K:
As I've grown to care about every single member of the team I knew that no matter who dies it will be a tough and tragic scene. I didn't expect it to be Lincoln and in the end that decision made quite a different impact on me than I would guess. Above all, I can't help but think Lincoln's death means such a lost opportunity, all the things he could have done, the way he could find his place and purpose on the team, not to mention all the chances to team up with May or give already broken Daisy a happy ending (for once). All these things and the way for his character to evolve and make a bigger impact on the show are now gone. And it's a such shame, really. Lincoln's goodbye to Daisy was such a heartbreaking moment, especially as it made me remember the famous Steve and Peggy's scene. There's something truly tragic about saying goodbye like that, with a lost connection and great distance between the two. Both actors, Luke Mitchell and Chloe Bennet did a wonderful work in that moment (and the entire finale!), they always had really great interactions. Lincoln never believed he's a hero and here he saved the world. Good on ya, mate! Will miss you for sure. And poor Daisy, my heart breaks for her. Everyone's reactions in the scene said it all. How many tragedies can one take? All that's left is to hope it'll only make Daisy and her friends stronger. Kudos for a powerful and memorable finale!

NCIS, "Family First", May 17, 2016, Actors: Michael Weatherly and more
The Scene: Tony's breakdown
Klutzy girl:
Tony has a breakdown in the bullpen after learning of Ziva's death. Michael Weatherly knocked it out of the park the whole episode but the pain and grief was so apparent in this scene, it made me hurt for him.

ORPHAN BLACK, "The Scandal of Altruism", May 19, 2016, Actors: Tatiana Maslany, Alison Steadman and more, The Scene: Kendall's death
Darth Locke:
Cosima says goodbye to Kendall Malone, before Detective Duko ends Kendall's life.

OUTLANDER, "Faith", May 21, 2016, Actors: Caitriona Balfe and more, The Scenes: Louise at L'Hopital helps Claire & King asks Claire to determine which man uses dark magic
Prpleight:
It was heartbreaking as Claire is unwilling to relinquish her dead baby. We've seen Louise as a frivolous privileged woman of leisure. It was nice to know that underneath all of that she could be a true friend to Claire.
Darth Locke: King Louis XV asks Claire to determine which man, Master Raymond or St. Germain uses dark magic, as it's against the law by using Claire's choice of poison.

PERSON OF INTEREST, "6,741", May 16, 2016, Actors: Sarah Shahi, Amy Acker, The Scenes: Shaw decides to shoot herself instead of Root & Root and Shaw talk in bed after having sex
Samantha Benjamin:
Shaw decides to shoot herself instead of Root. 6,741 was in itself a fantastic episode of TV and that scene between the two characters was immense. When I first watched the ep I gasped in shock, thinking Shaw was actually dead, and was then relieved by the fact it was a simulation.
Aimee Hicks: Root and Shaw talk in bed after having sex. The scene was intriguing before it was revealed all of this was Shaw’s fantasy, but even more so after the revelation. Shaw is incapable of expressing her feelings which was why it was wonderful to have this look inside her mind and what she feels but can’t express. All this time it’s been obvious Root has been crushing on Shaw but Shaw’s side of the attraction was never really spelled out. It was suspected that under it all Shaw cared for Root but just couldn’t express it then came the kiss that solidified the couple and destroyed it all within a singular scene. Luckily Shaw has more lives than a cat and survived so that we could all have this insightful look into her brain to discover the heart under the tough exterior. She loves Root and knows that the love of her life is still looking for her. Most importantly we got the seed sewed that would set up the big act of love at the end of the episode. Root is Shaw’s safe place and I love how Shaw interpreted Root’s tender post-sex touch. This was a lovely scene and beautifully acted by Amy and Sarah who prove yet again how truly connected they are when they work together. They bring a great depth to this couple.

THE 100, "Perverse Instantiation – Part Two", May 19, 2016, Actors: Eliza Taylor, Alycia Debnam-Carey, The Scenes: Lexa leaves Clarke to fend off ALIE's army & Lexa tends to Clarke after the seizure
Samantha Benjamin:
Lexa leaves Clarke to fend off ALIE's army. The show has always had its faults but I've stuck with it as I do overal enjoy it. I went into s3 knowing there was a possibility Lexa would be killed off so her death wasn't a shock, my only complaint was the execution. Giving Clarke & Lexa closure and letting Lexa go out in a blaze of glory like the Commander she was rectified that for me.
Aimee Hicks: Lexa tends to Clarke after the seizure. This scene showed that even in this altered reality of The City Of Light Lexa and Clarke’s love is as strong as ever. Lexa came to Clarke’s aid time and time again but it was this scene that I loved the most because it gave them this tender moment together to reconnect. I know it isn’t the permanent reunion most hoped would miraculously happen but at least it was something and it was great acting by Alycia and Eliza.

THE AMERICANS, "Munchkins", May 18, 2016, Actors: Richard Thomas and more
The Scene: Gaad gets killed by the Russians (picked by DarkUFO)
