New Girl - Episode 5.22 - Review: "Landing Gear"

With that, we arrive at the end of season 5, and it sure has been interesting. With Zooey Deschanel becoming pregnant and Megan Fox coming onto the show, it's had it's ups and downs, but overall it has been a great season after the turnaround last year and the central arc of Cece and Schmidt's wedding could have used some more focus throughout the season, but they did a great job of conveying the trials and tribulations that it takes for the bride and groom to get to the wedding. Schmidt heads to Portland to convince Cece's mom to attend the wedding, while Jess tries to deny her true feelings for Nick.

And boom! Reagan (Megan Fox) is back. Schmidt is stuck on the tarmac so the gang tries to stall the wedding from going through and little did they know, Cece's mom showed up! Meanwhile, Nick drops the 'relationship' word on Reagan and immediately regrets it. With the wedding ruined by Schmidt on a plane, they decide to Facetime him into the festivities at the wedding. I thought that was a nice touch and definitely something the gang would do, not to mention Winston's lame attempt at streaking. "I don't know if Hogwarts is near the train, I've never heard of it." Jess tried to be the bigger person and gave Reagan an idea of what it would be like to date Nick, for all his insecurities and faults, that's all she wants and I know they'll end up together. Reagan is just a footnote, the show will end with Jess and Nick with their happily ever after.

I thought having the wedding in the loft was perfect; the engagement happened at the door to the loft, it was only fitting to have the whole gang in the loft to seal the deal. The Napa Valley idea was a nice touch in the previous episodes, but this was the perfect way to end the season. Damn, even that song made me tear up and seeing everyone's face, they totally rocked that scene and I'm excited for where the next season takes out characters. "I hope that I remain someone you want to holla at." The douchebag jar. Perfect. I like how Jess basically let Nick know how she felt without exactly telling him. Nick is too senseless like most guys to see where the love truly is, but we'll see what happens after the 3 months in New Orleans with Reagan. And the honeymoon prank with Winston was awesome! So ends season 5, I hope you all have enjoyed it as much as I have and tune in next year to pick up with the gang. Until then, youths!
