Alex punches DeLuca. Might DeLuca play a bigger role in helping reconnect Alex and Jo?
We don't know anything about next season yet. But from Jo's point of view, the reason she says, "Let's have a baby," which comes from out of left field, is because she's all in and she loves him and wants to have that family with him. She's genuinely terrified of someone else ruining their relationship who destroyed her before and she had to build herself back up. It doesn’t mean that Jo doesn't want to be with Alex; she does — but in order for that to happen, she will have to tell him. And if she doesn't, I can't imagine him forgiving her for saying no [to his latest proposal]. Because what is the reason she's saying no?! And now with DeLuca, it looks like she's cheating.
The way the season ends, does it seem like Jo and Alex broke up?
My impression is that if I were Alex, I'd want to be done. For Alex, she said no and she can't give him a good enough reason and then he thinks maybe she's cheating. So yes, I'd be done if I were Alex.
Grey's continues to introduce people from everyone's past and now Jo is in the club of those with long-lost relatives. Have you had any casting conversations with the producers about introducing Jo's husband?
I haven't had any. If he does get introduced at some point, it's interesting that he's a charismatic person that everyone loves. It's a spin on the type of manipulative person he is. Part of me never wants to see him because he is someone who in the past had a lot of power over her but there's another part of me who absolutely wants to meet him.

TVLINE | First off, take me through Amelia’s final decision to go through with the wedding. It seemed like a big turning point for her, way beyond getting married.
Yeah, I think she’d been looking for external permission from Meredith, and ultimately, Meredith didn’t really give it to her. Instead, she said, “Hey, why are you looking to me? I don’t know anything! You should be looking to yourself!” So what Amelia actually gets from Meredith is permission to listen to herself and follow her own desires.
TVLINE | She’s like Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz —Amelia had the power all along.
[Laughs] This is absolutely the Wizard of Oz moment for her, where Dorothy realizes she could give and receive love the whole time!
TVLINE | Do you think Amelia and Owen will get a few weeks of happiness in Season 13 before the next calamity?
I hope so. We really haven’t been able to do all the kind of sweet, romantic stuff that usually is the bulk of a relationship. So I hope we get to have a little bit of a honeymoon before being struck by tragedy. It would be nice to kind of get out of the muck and mire!

Grey's Anatomy fan favorite Sara Ramirez, who has played Dr. Callie Torres since season two, has exited the Shondaland medical drama.
The actress, a Tony-winning Broadway star, will not return to the Shonda Rhimes-produced medical drama for its previously announced 13th season.
"I'm deeply grateful to have spent the last 10 years with my family at Grey's Anatomy and ABC but for now I'm taking some welcome time off," Ramirez said in a statement. "Shonda's been so incredible to work for and we will definitely continue our conversations! I send my love to Ellen [Pompeo], the rest of the cast and crew, and I look forward to always being a part of the Shondaland family!"
Said Rhimes in a statement: "Dr. Callie Torres came into our lives dancing it out in her underwear almost a decade ago and I could not be happier or more proud of her journey. Sara Ramirez's performance inspired me as well as millions of fans each week. We wish her the best on her well-deserved time off. I will miss Callie tremendously, but am excited for what the future holds for Sara. She will always have a home at Shondaland."
Meanwhile, Grey's stars Pompeo (Meredith) as well as fellow originals Chandra Wilson (Bailey), James Pickens Jr. (Richard) and Justin Chambers (Alex) in addition to Kevin McKidd (Owen) continue to renegotiate new contracts for season 13. Sources tell THR that they are all expected to return to the series.
