01:30 - Dirk Gently - Hannah Marks Cast as the Female Lead
Hannah Marks is set as the female lead opposite Elijah Wood and Samuel Barnett in Dirk Gently, BBC America’s eight-episode series based on the cult Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency novels by Hitchhiker’s Guide To The Galaxy author Douglas Adams.
Written by Max Landis, Dirk Gently is a comedic thriller that follows the bizarre adventures of eccentric “holistic” detective Dirk Gently (Barnett) and his reluctant assistant Todd (Wood), as they wend their way through one big, seemingly insane mystery a season, crossing unlikely paths with a bevy of wild and sometimes dangerous characters, each episode landing them a few random steps closer to uncovering the truth.
Marks will play Todd Brotzman’s (Wood) sister Amanda Brotzman, a former rebellious punk and fun gal, now sick, sidelined by a genetic disorder. Todd and Amanda are deeply connected.

22:00 - Vinyl - Showrunner Departs
The guard is changing at HBO's freshman drama Vinyl.
Showrunner Terence Winter has exited the Martin Scorsese-produced series after one season, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.
He will be replaced by executive Scott Z. Burns going into the season season of the series, which was renewed after one episode back in February.
“As we head into the second season of Vinyl, we have decided it is an appropriate time to make a change in the creative direction of the show,” HBO said in a statement. “We have enjoyed a longtime partnership with Terry Winter at HBO on projects from The Sopranos to Boardwalk Empire to Vinyl, and we look forward to our next collaboration with him. We are pleased to welcome Scott Z. Burns, executive producer and showrunner, and Max Borenstein, executive producer, as the new team helming the show."

21:45 - Chance - Paul Adelstein to Co-Star in Hulu's Drama Series
Paul Adelstein (Girlfriend’s Guide To Divorce, Scandal ) is set to co-star opposite Hugh Laurie and Gretchen Mol in Hulu’s drama series Chance. The project is from author Kem Nunn, Room director Lenny Abrahamson, showrunner Alexandra Cunningham, producer Michael London and Fox 21 TV Studios.
Chance, which has a two-season, 20-episode straight-to-series order for a late 2016 premiere, is based on Nunn’s novel. It is described as a provocative psychological thriller that focuses on Eldon Chance (Laurie), a San Francisco-based forensic neuropsychiatrist who reluctantly gets sucked into a violent and dangerous world of mistaken identity, police corruption and mental illness. After an ill-advised decision regarding an alluring patient, Jaclyn Blackstone (Mol), who may or may not be struggling with a multiple personality disorder, Chance finds himself in the crosshairs of her abusive spouse, Raymond Blackstone (Adelstein) who also happens to be a ruthless police detective.
Adelstein’s Raymond Blackstone is a crooked, ruthless, dangerously well-connected and surprisingly articulate Oakland homicide detective. His life is a balancing act – he works to solve murder cases while at the same time sex-trafficking young women through the massage parlors he runs with the help of thuggish Romanian henchmen. His greatest and maybe his only weakness is his wife Jaclyn. And the fact she knows his secrets is far from the only reason he will – and probably already has – killed for her…

21:45 - Michael Raymond-James Talks Game of Silence & Once Upon a Time with TVLine
TVLINE | I originally wrote down the question, “Would you consider Gil the hothead of the group?” Then I crossed it out, to ask: Would you consider Gil the most impetuous of the group, as adults?
What I think happened with Gil, as a result of the tragedy that took place, is he’s got a quick trigger. One thing I spoke to Dave Hudgins (who adapted this from the Turkish series Suskunlar) about when we were talking about doing it, was that Gil’s got a hurricane inside of him. There’s all this trauma that has never been dealt with, so he’s a bit of a case of arrested development, in terms of he doesn’t know what to do with all these emotions that he has. He’s never gone to therapy. He’s never sought help for PTSD or anything like that, so that hurricane is constantly churning inside him. You don’t know, at any given moment, when something might trigger an explosion.
TVLINE | Once Upon a Time Neal ReturnsOn a lighter note, how did your “surprise” Once Upon a Time encore come about?
[The idea of returning] had been broached before, but with everyone’s schedules it’s hard to find windows. I’ve been working pretty consistently the last couple of years, so I didn’t have a lot of time. But when their 100th episode came up, I was finishing up Game of Silence and I did have a window that they were able to work around. I missed the shooting of the actual episode, but they made accommodations to have me shoot the scene with Jen [Morrison] after they had moved on to a few episodes beyond that at that point. It worked out, and I’m glad it did. It was fun to do and it felt like a nice little bookend to the character.

23:15 - CBS Orders Unscripted True-Crime Anthology Starting With JonBenet Ramsey Case
CBS is looking for its own Making a Murderer/American Crime Story.
A day after NBC greenlit a Law & Order true-crime scripted anthology and two days after FX's American Crime Story ended its run, the network is in final negotiations for an untitled unscripted anthology focusing on a different case each season, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. The first season will focus on the JonBenet Ramsey murder case and could premiere as soon as fall 2016 — timed to the 20th anniversary of the death of the 6-year-old beauty pageant regular.
Emmy winner Tom Forman (48 Hours, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition) and Critical Content are on board to produce the series. While the subject will change every season, Forman and Critical Content will remain on board as producers. A title and episode count have not yet been determined, though sources say it will be a limited run similar to Netflix's 10-episode phenomenon Making a Murderer. CBS and Forman's camp declined comment.
The untitled series will re-unite the original investigators in the Ramsey case as well as new experts who all re-examine the unsolved case from 20 years ago.
Ramsey was found slain in her Boulder, Colo., home in 1996. Police found her body in the basement of the family's home eight hours after she had been reported missing. The 6-year-old was found struck on the head and strangled. Colorado officials initially suspected JonBenet's parents and her older brother of being involved in her death; the family was partially exonerated in 2003 when DNA taken from the victim's clothing suggested they were not involved. Her parents were completely cleared in July 2008. A year later, the Boulder Police Department took the case back from the D.A. and re-opened the investigation. After several grand jury hearings, JonBenet's slaying remains unsolved.
The CBS unscripted series comes as true crime fare has become the hottest trend on the small screen following the breakout success of HBO's The Jinx, Netflix's Murderer and podcast Serial. On Wednesday, NBC joined the fray when it announced it was teaming with prolific producer Dick Wolf for Law & Order: True Crime — with the first season of the anthology set to focus on the Menedez brothers, who were found guilty of murdering their parents in 1996.

TVLINE | It took so long for Riley and Danny to finally get together. Why break them apart now?
We’re testing their relationship. When you head into happily-ever-after, how strong is it? Are they really meant to be? You’ll come to realize that, yes, they are. It’s the Baby Daddy version of Ross and Rachel being on a break. Like, whose side are you on in this? While Riley feels betrayed, this is something Danny did in high school when he and Riley were just friends. We’ll get some people saying, “He said he’s sorry, just move on,” and then others will say, “I’d never trust him again.” So they’ll be on a break at the beginning of the season, but I think it’s a legitimate question to ask: Where are they going? When they get through this, it’ll just make their relationship that much stronger.
TVLINE | Maybe it’s just wishful thinking, but could there be more (or less) to the bedroom story than we think?
There’s a little more to it, but I think you can sort of fill in what happened in the room. Danny definitely slept with her, it wasn’t misleading.

20:10 - Eyewitness - Warren Christie to Recur
Warren Christie (Chicago Fire) has landed a recurring role opposite Tyler Young, James Paxton and Julianne Nicholson in USA Network’s upcoming drama series Eyewitness, an adaptation of the Norwegian crime thriller Øyevitne. From Universal Cable Productions and Shades of Blue creator Adi Hasak, the series explores a grisly crime from the point of view of the eyewitness.
Christie will play Ryan Kane, a man spiraling into an abyss of violence who will do anything possible to escape detection after committing a series of passion-fueled murders. His pragmatic hunt for the two eyewitnesses (Young and Paxton) to his crime and his effort to mislead Sheriff Helen Torrance (Nicholson) quickly becomes a sinister game of cat and mouse. Christie most recently recurred on Motive, Chicago Fire and Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce. He’s repped by UTA and Jackoway Tyerman.

20:10 - The Man in the High Castle - Season 2 - Bella Heathcote Joins Cast
Australian actress Bella Heathcote (Fifty Shades Darker, Pride and Prejudice and Zombies) has joined the Season 2 cast of Amazon’s original drama series The Man in the High Castle as a series regular. Based on Philip K. Dick’s alt-history novel, the series depicts a divided and drab 1962 America, in which the Nazis rule the East and Midwest and Imperial Japan reigns over the Western states, with a neutral zone between them.
Heathcote will play Nicole Becker, a young, Berlin-born filmmaker who will cross paths with Joe (Luke Kleintank). Heathcoate is shooting Universal’s Fifty Shades Darker and was in this year’s Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. She next will be seen in Nicolas Winding Refn’s Amazon original movie The Neon Demon, opposite Elle Fanning and Keanu Reeves. Heathcote is repped by WME, More/Medavoy Management, JM Agency in Australia and Sloane Offer.

20:10 - Shots Fired - Alicia Sanz, Edwina Findley, Marqus Clae and Shamier Anderson to Recur
Alicia Sanz (From Dusk Till Dawn), Edwina Findley (Get Hard), Marqus Clae and Shamier Anderson (Race) have booked recurring roles on Fox event series Shots Fired.
From Gina Prince-Bythewood and Brian Grazer, Shots Fired examines the dangerous aftermath of racially charged shootings in a small North Carolina town. It stars Richard Dreyfuss, Helen Hunt, Sanaa Lathan, Stephan James and Stephen Moyer, and 20th TV and Imagine TV are producing.
Sanz will play Paula, Javier’s (Angel Bonanni) new girlfriend who has a volatile relationship with Ashe (Lathan). Findley will play Shirlane, a reporter covering the shooting. Clae is Cory, a 17-year-old tough talker who might know more about the shooting than he lets on. Anderson is Maceo Terry, a pro football player and brother of Preston Terry (James).

09:40 - Powerpuff Girls Reboot - Ms. Bellum Cut
One character who didn't make the cut in the new "Powerpuff Girls" series? The mayor's red-headed assistant Ms. Bellum.
"We felt like Ms. Bellum wasn't quite indicative of the kind of messaging we wanted to be giving out at this time, so we sort of had her move on," Jennings explained. "And that was a good choice I think on our part."
The Ms. Sara Bellum character was the super-intelligent, capable and apparently beautiful woman (her face was never shown), who for some reason never rose above being the assistant to the generally clueless mayor of Townsville.

23:30 - The Catch - John Simm Cast as The Benefactor
At last, we’ll get to put a face to “The Benefactor.”
British actor John Simm (“Doctor Who,” “Life on Mars”) has joined the cast of ABC’s cat-and-mouse thriller “The Catch,” Variety has confirmed exclusively.
He’ll play the mysterious benefactor behind Ben/Christopher (Peter Krause) and Margot (Sonya Walger), who’s been footing the bill for their elaborate financial cons. As the leader of the organization they work for, they’re deeply in debt to him, and he’s coming to collect.
“He’s one of my all-time favorite actors,” showrunner and executive producer Allan Heinberg told Variety. “I’ve wanted to work with him my whole professional life, and I could not be more grateful for that. We’re getting a great guest cast.”
Simm, who played the Master on “Doctor Who” alongside David Tennant, will be introduced in episode six and will appear through the back half of the 10-episode first season of “The Catch.”

Charles Mesure (Desperate Housewives, Once Upon A Time) has joined the cast of Freeform’s horror drama series Dead Of Summer, created/executive produced by Adam Horowitz, Edward Kitsis and Ian Goldberg. Set in the late 1980s, school is out for the summer and a sun-drenched season of firsts beckons the counselors at Camp Clearwater, a seemingly idyllic Midwestern summer camp, including first loves, first kisses — and first kills. Clearwater’s dark, ancient mythology awakens, and what was supposed to be a summer of fun soon turns into one of unforgettable scares and evil at every turn.
Mesure will play a small-town sheriff who loves his peaceful community and is not happy when things start to go sideways at the camp.

J.D. Evermore (Dallas Buyers Club), who recurred as Sheriff Carl Daggett on the first three seasons of SundanceTV drama series Rectify, has been promoted to regular for the fourth and final eight-episode season.
Created by Ray McKinnon and executive produced by Mark Johnson and Melissa Bernstein, Rectify centers on Daniel Holden (Aden Young), who is released after serving nearly 20 years in complete isolation on death row, as he returns as an outsider to his family, to his community, and to the times.

Meet Miranda Sing’s mother and uncle. The Office alumna Angela Kinsey and Steve Little (The Grinder) are set to co-star opposite Colleen Ballinger-Evans in the YouTube personality’s eight-episode Netflix half-hour comedy series Haters Back Off, from The Firm.
Based on actress-comedian-singer Ballinger-Evans’s most popular character, Miranda Sings, Haters Back Off delves into the oddball family life of Miranda Sings (Ballinger-Evans), an incredibly confident, totally untalented star on the rise who continues to fail upward by the power of her belief that she was born famous, it’s just no one knows it yet.
Kinsey will play Miranda’s mother, Bethany; Little will play Miranda’s uncle, Jim. Both characters had been referenced by Miranda on YouTube for years but never seen. The way Bethany dotes on her daughter helps explain Miranda’s peculiar behavior; while Miranda has suggested that she and her uncle have a unique relationship.

23:30 - Showtime Developing Cuban Missile Crisis Limited Series Based On ‘The Armageddon Letters’ Book
As U.S.-Cuba relations continue to improve following President Barack Obama’s historic visit, Showtime will examine a period when they were at the lowest: during the Cuban Missile Crisis of 1962. The pay cable network has put in development a four-hour limited series based on the book The Armageddon Letters, by James Blight and Janet M. Lang. It will be produced by two-time Oscar winner Albert S. Ruddy (The Godfather, Million Dollar Baby) and Oscar nominee Mike Medavoy (Black Swan, Shutter Island).
The book is based on the actual 43 documents obtained under the Freedom of Information Act that chronicle the buildup to the Cuban Missile Crisis when the world teetered on the edge of nuclear destruction. The book is organized around the letters exchanged during the crisis between President John F. Kennedy, Soviet leader Nikita Krushchev, and Cuban leader Fidel Castro.
