Thanks to mac for the heads up.
Crackle is pulling from its parent company's film library for its latest original scripted series.

The streaming service has ordered the series Snatch, inspired by the 2001 Guy Ritchie film of the same name, it was announced Wednesday.

Released by Sony's Screen Gems label stateside and by Columbia Pictures internationally, the British comedy centered on two interweaving plots about the search for a stolen diamond and a small-time boxing promoter under the thumb of a ruthless gangster. The ensemble film featured Brad Pitt, Benicio del Toro, Jason Statham, Vinnie Jones and the late Dennis Farina, among others.

In its description of the series, Crackle compares the TV version of Snatch to FX critical darling Fargo, in that it will "carry the spirit" of the original source material, but establish a new world separate from the movie. Informed by a real life London heist, the show centers on a group of twentysomething up-and-coming hustlers who stumble upon a truck load of stolen gold bullion and are suddenly thrust into the high-stakes world of organized crime.

  • 00:40 - MOVIES: Empress - Film Based On Comic In Development
On the heels of selling the movie rights to two of his comics last week, author Mark Millar has jumped back into the crystalline waters of Hollywood once again.

Millar has partnered with producers Joe Roth and Jeff Kirschenbaum to bring the comic author’s latest work, Empress, to the big screen.

    F. Scott Frazier, who wrote the script for xXx: The Return of Xander Cage, the Vin Diesel action vehicle currently in production, has been tapped to pen the script for Empress.

The comic, co-created and drawn by Stuart Immonen, centers on the wife of a galactic dictator (a la Ming the Merciless from Flash Gordon) who makes the decision to leave her evil husband and take her three kids with her. With the aid of a bodyguard, she escapes with her brood — Aine, her 15-year-old daughter who wants to be with her father; Adam, her gentle soul of a 10-year-old son who she knows would not survive the trials ahead to be an elite ruler; and Puck, her 18-month-old — to her home world. But the dictator husband, with armies at his disposal, isn’t going to let her go without a fight.

Empress reunites Millar with Kirschenbaum, the exec who brought in one of Millar’s early creator-owned comics, Wanted, turning it into a hit Angelina Jolie action movie.

"Nobody creates universes that translate into big movie ideas better than Millar,” said Kirschenbaum. “With Empress, he's raised the bar yet again. Part Star Wars, part Guardians of the Galaxy and part something wholly fresh that only the amazing brain of Millar could spawn."

Said Millar: “In terms of pure concept, this is the most ambitious story I’ve ever come up with, so it needed the most experienced producers I’ve ever been in business with. Joe Roth is a genuine Hollywood legend and Jeff Kirschenbaum was part of the team that broke every record in the book at Universal last year. Even being on the same poster as these two guys is exciting to me.”

  • 22:20 - Fuller House - Season 2 - Coming Sooner Than Expected
We see you, Fuller House fans. Netflix finally released its reboot of Full House, and instead of savoring every moment you went ahead and binged the whole thing in an afternoon, leaving you hungry for new episodes. There are no judgments here. This is a safe space. But we would like to inform you that those new episodes are coming sooner than you might've expected.

"The fans of the show loved the show. They renewed [it] within, like, a day," Fuller House star and executive producer John Stamos tells E! News. "They actually sort of put a rush on it. I don't think they've announced the dates, but they're going to be a lot sooner than we released last year's."

Hear that? More Fuller House! And soon!

"Last year we had a very fast prep time to get the scripts and stories done. This year we got ahead of it and I think, out of the 13 I feel like there's already like 10 scripts done," the Grandfathered star says. "The writers are really working hard over there and they're great."

  • 05:15 - Son Of Zorn - Co-Creator/Co-Showrunner Eli Jorne Exits Fox Comedy Series
There is a second behind-the-scenes change at Fox’s hybrid live-action/animated comedy series Son Of Zorn, from Last Man On Earth executive producers Phil Lord & Chris Miller and former Wilfred showrunners Reed Agnew and Eli Jorne.

Jorne, who co-created the project with Agnew and had served as co-showrunner, is departing the series over creative differences, leaving Sally McKenna as the sole showrunner at the moment. Production on the series won’t be affected by the change. Son Of Zorn is currently about half-way through its 13-episode order.

McKenna was brought in when Agnew, originally slated to co-showrun with Jorne, stepped down as co-showrunner but remained on the show as exec producer. McKenna and Agnew exec produce with Phil Lord, Chris Miller, Seth Cohen and Eric Appel.

Son Of Zorn employs a mix of live-action and animated lead characters. Upon arriving home on Earth for the first time in 10 years, Zorn (Jason Sudeikis), a fully animated, legendary warrior, finds that reconnecting with his live-action son, Alan (Johnny Pemberton), and ex-wife, Edie (Cheryl Hines), while suffering through a mundane office job and the banality of suburban life, is harder than waging actual war in his distant, mystical homeland of Zephyria. Tim Meadows also stars.

  • 05:15 - USA Network Redeveloping ‘Brooklyn Animal Control’ Pilot; Passes On ‘Poor Richard’s Almanack’ Pilot
USA Network has made decisions on its two outstanding drama pilots, Brooklyn Animal Control, based on the IDW Publishing comic created by JT Petty, and Poor Richard’s Almanack. According to sources, none of the two is going forward.

I hear Brooklyn Animal Control, from Universal Cable Prods., will be redeveloped with Petty, who also wrote the original pilot and executive produced it with David S. Goyer, Circle of Confusion’s Rick Jacobs & David Alpert, and IDW Entertainment’s David Ozer & Ted Adams. Meanwhile, USA network has passed on Poor Richard’s Almanack, from Legendary TV and UCP, with the two studios expected to shop the pilot elsewhere. Both projects had high-concept, unusual premises.

Brooklyn Animal Control follows the inner workings of a secret subdivision of the NYPD that functions as social services for some of the city’s most unique citizens — werewolves. Delving into the lives of both the Case Officers, and the secretive, highly insular Kveld-Ulf, a community of werewolves living deep in the borough, the drama will examine city politics, immigrant communities, and families divided by ambition, secrecy, and tradition.

Written by executive producer Jim Danger Gray and consulting producer Miguel Sapochnik, Poor Richard’s Almanack weaves between modern day and a possible future where characters have changed radically and revolves around a cadre of heroes who emerge as the new “Founding Fathers,” after America is pushed to the brink of collapse.
