Joe Manganiello has abruptly departed History’s Six during filming. Production on the military drama series, which had filmed almost two episodes of its eight-episode order with Manganiello, has been shut down while his role is being recast. There is no re-start date set yet, with Manganiello’s scenes set to be reshot.
This is the second time in a row that True Blood alum Manganiello was cast in a straight-to-series project but ended up pulling out and being recast. Last spring, he left Fox’s Scream Queens citing promotional obligations to Magic Mike XXL before start of production (He was replaced by Oliver Hudson). This time he has exited Six because of health reasons.
Written by William Broyles (Jarhead) and David Broyles, a military Special Operations veteran, and inspired by current events, Six — History’s second original scripted series after Vikings — follows a brotherhood of modern American warriors, Navy SEAL Team Six, whose 2014 mission to eliminate a Taliban leader in Afghanistan goes awry when they uncover a U.S. citizen working with the terrorists. Barry Sloane toplines the series, from A+E Studios and The Weinstein Company.
