Scene Of The Week - April 24, 2016 + POLL

Apr 24, 2016

A weekly feature in which we're trying to find the most compelling, best acted, written, directed and just generally great, memorable scenes that we've seen in past seven days on TV.

BATES MOTEL, "The Vault", April 18, 2016, Actors: Vera Farmiga, Nestor Carbonell, The Scene: Norma tells Alex the truth
Alexandra Stillwell:
The entire episode was incredible but the end scene has been one of the most long awaited moments for me. Norma breaks down and tells Alex the complete truth about Caleb. It was a heartbreaking confession that will forever be one of my favourite moments in television. Vera Farmiga needs to be recognized for the amazing performance she is delivering week after week, but most definitely needs to be praised for this scene. Both Vera and Nestor left me speechless.
Darth Locke: Norma goes off on Chick Hogan (again) and then tells Ramero the truth about her and Caleb.

BROOKLYN NINE NINE, "Greg and Larry", April 19, 2016, Actors: Andre Braugher, Chelsea Peretti and more, The Scene: Holt gets Bob and Gina out of the hospital
Laura Markus:
Holt tries to get Bob and Gina out of the hospital, and he pretends they're psychiatric patients. It was hilarious and Chelsea Peretti has never been better, pretending to be Serena Williams. Genius work!

LIMITLESS, "Finale: Part One!", April 19, 2016, Actors: Jake McDorman and more, The Scene: The ending
Laura Markus:
Brian informs Naz and Rebecca that Brewster works for Sands, Brewster breaks Sands out of prison, they kill the bus of Morra's people, "it's a massacre", Brian, Rebecca, Boyle, and Naz stare at the wreckage. It was one of the best endings to an episode that I have ever seen. Everyone was acting in full force, it was a cliffhanger like no other. And the music playing in the background was fantastic. Everything about this scene was perfection and I cannot wait for Part Two!! Also picked by Darth Locke

LUCIFER, "#TeamLucifer", April 18, 2016, Actors: Tom Ellis, Lauren German, D. B. Woodside, The Scenes: Chloe and Lucifer talk at LUX & Lucifer and Amenadiel fight
Aimee Hicks:
The finale scene of the episode was my favorite because it showed how connected these two are. Chloe could tell Lucifer was hurting and she wanted to be there for him. She came to LUX to try and ensure he was safe and in that moment she was trying to reassure him that she wasn’t out to get him. He is her friend and partner and she has his back. The conversation they had was one of their rare serious ones where Lucifer couldn’t even manage to be to sarcastic given how badly his day had gone. Then Chloe took a full 180 degree turn as Chloe discovered what I assume was a dead body and turned on Lucifer. I think she’ll come to her senses quickly in the next episode and I’m curious to watch how she helps clear his name and the consequences. I really like this scene because it was the calm before the storm. Tom and Lauren have a great chemistry together and it shines extremely bright when they have these more serious scenes together.
Laura Markus: The Lucifer and Amenadiel fight. The stunts were filmed so well and the acting was superb. I hope someone can fix the damages done to Lucifer's place.

MARVEL'S AGENTS OF SHIELD, "The Team", April 19, 2016, Actors: Chloe Bennet, Luke Mitchell, The Scene: The truth about Daisy is revealed
Justyna K:
Now that was a fantastic episode! We finally got to see Secret Warriors in action and they did a wonderful job. Such a shame it didn't last. All it took was Malick's confession and everyone turned against each other. It was tough to see everything break down, especially right after a great rescue mission. But it did gave us a better insight into the characters as they reacted to the crisis around them. Which leads me to - poor Lincoln! He really grew on me in the past episodes and even more in this hour when he's trying to find a way out of the terrible position the Inhumans are in. He finally starts to become and feel like a part of SHIELD team and now the trust is broken once again. The main part of the hour for me has to be the ending. Daisy showing up to get Lincoln out of his cell, him figuring out the truth and finally the earthshaking exit. The entire sequence is beautifully done. Chloe Bennet and Luke Mitchell were brilliant in the confrontation. The way she is still so much alike, even though she makes completely different choices might just be the scariest part about Hive controlling Daisy. And the moment Lincoln realized she used the thing he's most afraid of against him was truly heartbreaking. Even though the reveal itself wasn't a complete surprise it was an emotional, intense and wonderfully done ending. With incredible music in the background as Daisy causes a massive earthquake in the HQ. Kudos to the cast & crew! Can't wait to see what's next.

ONCE UPON A TIME, "Ruby Slippers", April 17, 2016, Actors: Meghan Ory, Teri Reeves, The Scene: Ruby gives Dorothy true love's kiss
Aimee Hicks:
This was a groundbreaking moment for the show as they finally introduced the shows’ first same sex fairytale love story. Upon first watching this episode I felt that from the introduction to the kiss the story was rushed. After going back and watching it again I felt a lot better about the story and how it was told. This was truly a true love story like the dozens we’ve already seen on this show. They experienced love at first sight and I think there is something very magical about that. These two had an instant connection and these two actresses expertly guided their characters through a complicated array of emotions which culminated in the final emotion filled kiss. This scene was my favorite of the episode because it brought them together in the most powerful of ways and treated them as if they were any romantic couple on the show. Meghan and Teri seemed very at ease with one another and gave a lot of heart to the immense emotion consuming both characters. I loved how Meghan portrayed Ruby’s nerves and the tears that were in her eyes really helped convey the depth of the emotions going on. The real question will be how long it takes for the show to bring these actresses and their characters back. Hopefully not long because it would be nice to get to spend some time with them as a couple and see if the show continues to write them like any other couple in love.

ORPHAN BLACK, "Transgressive Border Crossing", April 21, 2016, Actors: Tatiana Maslany and more
The Scene: Sarah is confronted by Frank & Roxie at the laundry mat (picked by Darth Locke)

SUPERGIRL, "Better Angels", April 18, 2016, Actors: Melissa Benoist, Chyler Leigh, The Scene: Kara says goodbye to Alex
Aimee Hicks:
All season the show has built up the love between these sisters and they’ve been tested every way possible and still stand as strong as ever. That’s what made this goodbye all the more heartbreaking because for the first time Kara didn’t think her sister would be able to help her. To her this goodbye was final and she wanted to make sure her sister went on to live a good life. It was truly heartbreaking that Kara views herself as such a burden to Alex while Alex wants nothing more than to protect and love her sister. Chyler barely held Alex together as the elder Danvers sister was desperate to come up with a way to save Kara. The tears dripping from her face and the anger and fear when she clenched her fist as she promised Kara was very heartbreaking and beautifully raw acting by Chyler. The way Melissa fought to keep Kara in control and trying to be strong was equally as raw and really delivered home how powerful of a bond these sisters have. This was a great scene and was by far my favorite in a nearly perfect season finale.
