Scene Of The Week - April 17, 2016 + POLL

A weekly feature in which we're trying to find the most compelling, best acted, written, directed and just generally great, memorable scenes that we've seen in past seven days on TV.

BANSHEE, "JOB", April 15, 2016, Actors: Hoon Lee and more
The Scenes: The opening scene & Shootout as Job is released
Bradley Adams:
Opening scene as Job is tortured using the idea of photokeratitis.
DarkUFO: Shootout as Job is released.

BATES MOTEL, "Refraction", April 11, 2016, Actors: Ryan Hurst, Vera Farmiga and more, The Scenes: Chick Hogan confronts Norma & Dr. Edwards meets "Mother"
Darth Locke:
Chick Hogan reveals and figures out a great deal about Norma and Caleb, while he confronts her in her kitchen. I just knew Chick Hogan would try to go through Norma to try and find Caleb, but the character just gives this season a real creep factor that is reminiscent to season one antagonists like Keith Summers or Jacob Abbernathy. I have no idea how it's going to work out, as far as Chick is concerned, but I worry for Dylan still too!
Alexandra Stillwell: Dr. Edwards meets "Mother".

BETTER CALL SAUL, "Nailed", April 11, 2016, Actors: Michael McKean, Rhea Seehorn and more, The Scenes: Kim and Jimmy go over to Chuck's house & Final Scene
Shirleena Cunningham:
Kim and Jimmy go over to Chuck's house to pick up the Mesa Verde files. When they arrived they found out Chuck had changed the locks. When they walked into the living room they saw Chuck sitting in his chair, wrapped in his space blanket. Chuck told Kim that he had hoped to speak to Kim alone but he thought it was time to clear the air. Kim didn't know what was going on, but Jimmy had a good idea. Chuck started to throw Jimmy under the bus, claiming that he sabotaged his Mesa Verde files. Then Kim put Chuck in his place, took the files, then punched Jimmy in the shoulder three times, and told him to just drive...
Darth Locke: Chuck's electromagnetic disorder gets the better of him, when he tries to force the Copy Store's cashier to reveal that Jimmy used the copy equipment. There were so many great scenes in this penultimate episode of the second season, but this scene really just escalated Jimmy's and Chuck's rivalry problems in relation to the idea that Jimmy does care about Chuck, despite wanting to outmaneuver him. The acting and filming style was really well done. Seeing the way Chuck hit his head on counter is something that could haunt my dreams. Also picked by Bradley Adams

BROOKLYN NINE NINE, "Bureau", April 12, 2016, Actors: Andy Samberg, Andre Braugher and more
The Scene: The ending
Laura Markus:
Jake frantically calls Holt, who gets taken hostage at gunpoint by Bob.

CASTLE, "Death Wish", April 11, 2016, Actors: Seamus Dever and more
The Scene: Ryan announces his newborn son's name
Klutzy girl:
Ryan announces his and Jenny's newborn son is named Nicholas Javier. Great way to honor Espositio and their friendship!

FEAR THE WALKING DEAD, "Monster", April 10, 2016, Actors: Frank Dillane and more
The Scene: Zombies in the water after boat is gunned down (picked by DarkUFO)

GRIMM, "Inugami", April 15, 2016, Actors: Claire Coffee and more
The Scene: Adalind goes in for an interview at her old law firm
Prpleight:
The baby was adorable and we finally learn why Adalind hadn't looked into return to work sooner...the Hexenbiest was required.

iZOMBIE, "Dead Beat", April 12, 2016, Actors: Rose McIver, Malcolm Goodwin, The Scene: Liv tells Clive the truth
Justyna K:
Season two of iZombie was probably one of my favorite things about this TV season. The episodes were absolutely great and I could never decide on just one scene to include in the article. This time also wasn't easy as once again there were many moments I could mention from these action-packed final hours of the season but in the end I decided to go with Liv telling Clive the truth about zombies. It just changes so much about the show and one of its main relationships. The entire dynamics between this crime-investigating duo will never be the same. I'm glad Clive finally knows. And more importantly that it was Liv's choice to include him in her world and not just an accidental discovery that would break their friendship without a chance to explain things. I love how unique is this show, it never works the way other shows do, always surprises the viewers and keeps things new and interesting. I can't wait to see where everything will go from here but I'm excited to find out. Kudos!

LUCIFER, "St. Lucifer", April 11, 2016, Actors: Tom Ellis, Lauren German and more, The Scenes: Lucifer realizes Chloe alone makes him mortally vulnerable & Lucifer is shot
Aimee Hicks:
This scene was a game changer as we discover that, for reasons still unknown, it is Chloe alone that makes Lucifer vulnerable to mortal wounds. The mystery surrounding Chloe continues to grow and hopefully in these final two episodes of the season we’ll learn more about why she’s so special. I love the way Lauren and Tom played this scene and it was interesting to see her more in charge of the scene than him. Usually Lucifer likes to dominate conversations, but he was trying to test her effect on him and allowed her to control the moment. This was a great setup for what is to come which made this scene stand out in an otherwise nearly perfect episode.
Diana Mack: At the end of the episode, Chloe tells Lucifer she can finally start to trust him because he makes her vulnerable, which is the same for Lucifer (he hides a knife behind his back and in fact he bleeds after cut).
Laura Markus: Grieving widow shoots Lucifer, and he survives just as Dan comes to warn him.

NASHVILLE, "When There’s a Fire in Your Heart", April 13, 2016, Actors: Hayden Panettiere, Ed Amatrudo, The Scene: Juliette sings a song dedicated to Glenn
Klutzy girl:
Juliette sings a song dedicated to Glenn to let him know how she feels about him. Their father/daughter relationship has always been one of my favorites and that clearly meant a lot to him.

ORPHAN BLACK, "The Collapse of Nature", April 14, 2016, Actors: Tatiana Maslany and more, The Scene: Beth's discovery
Darth Locke:
Beth horrifically discovers Roxie, Frank, and Detective Duko removing living Neolution biotech embedded in their Client's cheek! So great to have the show back--and to have it be a total flashback episode, that takes viewers to events just prior to season, was a great way to reimmerse us in a season one feel by both seeing familiar faces, characters mentioned, but not known, and to introduce the season's new characters! This scene with Beth's discovery--and showing viewers how she came to shoot Maggie Chen was a thrilling climax of the episode!

OUTLANDER, "Not in Scotland Anymore", April 16, 2016, Actors: Sam Heughan, Caitriona Balfe, Marc Duret, The Scene: Jamie rescues Claire from Duverney
Prpleight:
Claire tries to fight off Duverney's advances. Jamie walks up and flings him away. He goes over a short wall and into the pond below. I loved the fact that it was so offhandedly done. Jamie barely exerted himself and the guy went over a wall. The state of his wig while Jamie and Claire apologize was hysterical.

SUPERGIRL, "Myriad", April 11, 2016, Actors: Melissa Benoist, Chyler Leigh, Calista Flockhart, The Scenes: Myriad controlled Alex confronts Kara & Cat's speech to Supergirl
Aimee Hicks:
This scene was everything I feared would happen and everything I wanted to happen. I wanted to see how Kara would react to Alex being turned into a weapon against her. Melissa brilliantly portrayed Kara’s fear and angst over what to do about her sister. Alex is the single most important person to Kara and for her to be used as a weapon against her was an evil yet brilliant plan by Non. I would even dare to argue that in this situation Alex was even more paralyzing to Kara than even Kryptonite. Non has forced Kara into a position where she has to defend herself without actually harming her sister or being killed by her sister. It is an interesting change of positions from a few weeks back when Kara was under the influence of Red Kryptonite and Alex was left to save her sister while not being killed by her. No matter what the Danvers sisters will always find a way back to one another no matter how scrambled their brains are. I’m immensely interested to see the sisterly fight in its entirety because I think it’s going to be brilliant. In this scene Melissa and Chyler perfectly sold the moment and setup what promises to be an insane opening to the season finale next week. While I loved all of the Cat and Kara stuff this scene is one I had been expecting and it definitely met my expectations so therefore I have to call it my favorite scene of this spot on brilliant penultimate episode of the season.
Klutzy girl: Cat tells Supergirl that she's changed her for her better and that she believes she can help everybody. They've come a long way from the pilot. Also picked by Diana Mack
Donna Chidley: I think it's surprising that Supergirl's moral compass is none other than Cat.

THE AMERICANS, "Clark's Place", April 13, 2016, Actors: Keri Russell, Matthew Rhys and more
The Scene: The final scene
Bradley Adams:
'Under Pressure' plays over the final scene as Phillip and Elizabeth have sex, Martha drinks her wine and Stan and Aderholt stake out Martha's apartment.

THE BLACKLIST, "Mr. Solomon: Conclusion", April 14, 2016, Actors: James Spader, Megan Boone and more, The Scene: Liz dies
Justyna K:
In quite an impossible twist this week The Blacklist lost its main character. Not just a member of main cast but one of the show's leads. And it's a shocking and powerful surprise, even for someone who doesn't watch the series regularly anymore. Of course with the way TV works these days there are already many theories out there that would explain the storyline and result in Liz's miraculous return. For now, all remains to be seen and we are left with all the characters grieving her death. As a casual viewer I didn't expect to get emotional but everyone's reactions and the way the entire scene is made, with quiet music yet no words, was truly heartbreaking. I can only hope this isn't the sudden ending of Liz's story, with many things still to be revealed and little baby she wanted from the first episode finally born. For now, kudos to the cast & crew for this beautifully done moment!
Diana Mack: Liz dies. Although I still think she can't be gone for good, I mean, they still need to solve Liz-Red dynamic-relationship! We need answers. Lol. Great performance by James Spader.

WYNONNA EARP, "Leavin' on Your Mind", April 15, Actors: Melanie Scrofano and more, The Scenes: Wynonna talks to her dad and sister’s grave & Wynonna shoots her friend at the end
Aimee Hicks:
I don’t know why it took Melanie Scrofano so long to land as a series lead because this woman can act. She not only gave this scene here whole heart but she made me feel Wynonna’s pain and grief over losing both of them. Melanie gets to express her emotions many times throughout the episode, but this scene really stood out. When she declares how much she loves and misses them Melanie’s voice chokes up in a way that revealed how raw of a performance she was delivering. I watched an interview with Melanie where she revealed an emotional moment from her past and the way she choked up there telling a real story is the same way she did in this scene. Some actors have to force emotions into their character and that shows but in Melanie’s case I feel like what we got to witness in this scene was a glimpse at the kind soul and big heart of the actress behind the character making the moment feel all the more raw and powerful. Any actor can fake emotion but a truly confident and strong one taps into their own experiences and delivers raw and real performances. Melanie’s performance here is what made this scene stand out for me. This was a great moment of emotional development from Wynonna and a great acting moment for Melanie.
Donna Chidley: Having to shot her friend at the end who is possessed by a demon. You get the feeling Shorty became a bit of a fatherly figure for her over the years.
