Ratings Breakdown:
CBS topped this first Tuesday in April in the household overnights, but it was not a clean sweep. “NCIS” dominated the evening, as always, with a 9.7 rating/16 share at 8 p.m., which led into a first-place 7.6/12 for spin-off “NCIS: New Orleans” at 9 p.m. But freshman drama “Limitless” dipped to second at 10 p.m. with a 3.9/ 6, which was 24 percent below competing “Chicago Fire” on NBC. A distant third in the 10 p.m. hour was ABC’s “Beyond the Tank” at a mere 1.4/ 2 in the overnights. Needless to say, the Tuesday 10 p.m. hour remains a particularly sore spot for ABC.
Earlier in the evening on NBC was an encore telecast of “The Voice” at a 4.4/ 7 at 8 p.m., which tied the competing 90-minute “American Idol” retrospective special on Fox.
The “American Idol” special led into a 1.9/ 3 for a Tuesday 9:30 p.m. edition of sitcom “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” (#3t), which slipped by 57 percent. And “Chicago Fire” closed the night for NBC with a dominant 5.1/ 9 at 10 p.m.
Elsewhere, ABC had nothing unusual to report with its combination of sitcoms “Fresh Off the Boat” (#4: 2.9/ 5) and recently introduced “The Real O’Neals” (#4: 2.5/ 4), “Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD” #4: 2.0/ 3) and aforementioned “Beyond the Tank” (#3: 1.4/ 2). And The CW populated the evening with encore telecasts of “The Flash” (#5: 0.9/ 2) and ‘iZombie” (#5: 0.8/ 1).
