Ratings Breakdown:
Note: AMC aired the season-finale of “The Walking Dead” from 9-10:30 p.m. ET.
CBS closed the week on a winning overnight note care of the “51st Academy of Country Music Awards,” which averaged a 6.7 rating/11 share in households from 8-11 p.m. Comparably, however, this was noticeable 26 percent below the 9.0/15 in the overnights for the year-ago telecast (on Sunday 4/19/15). And that translated into 15.98 million viewers and a 3.6 rating/11 share in adults 18-49, based on the Live + Same Day results.
Earlier in the evening on CBS was granddaddy “60 Minutes” at a dominant 7.0/12 from 7-8 p.m.
Despite facing the “ACM Awards,” bona fide NBC hit “Little Big Shots,” hosted by Steve Harvey, won the 8 p.m. hour with a 6.8/11. Comparably, that was six percent above the 6.4/11 one week earlier. And it led into slightly improved overnights for sitcoms “The Carmichael Show” (#2: 3.1/ 5) and “Crowded” (#2: 2.3/ 3) from 9-10 p.m., followed by a Sunday 10 p.m. edition of “Dateline” at a distant second-place 2.7/ 5 at 10 p.m.
NBC opened the night with a repeat of “Little Big Shots” at a 3.3/ 6 (#2) at 7 p.m.
Elsewhere, ABC could not compete with its Sunday combination of veteran “America’s Funniest Home Videos” (#3: 2.9/ 5), “Once Upon a Time” (#3: 2.5/ 4), “The Family” (#3: 2.2/ 3) and “Quantico” (#3: 2.6/ 4). Sunday from 7-10 p.m. needs to be revamped on ABC next season. And Fox was well below average (and is also in need of revamping) with its diluted 7-10 p.m. line-up of “Bordertown” (#4: 0.7/ 1), “Cooper Barrett Survives the Universe” (#4: 0.7/ 1), “The Simpsons” (#4: 1.5/ 3), two episodes of “Bob’s Burgers” (8:30 p.m.: #4: 1.3/ 2; 9 p.m.: #4: 1.2/ 2) and just renewed “Last Man Standing” (#4: 1.4/ 2).
