Thanks to Yanny for the heads up.

Iconic Disney flagship character Mickey Mouse will be paying a visit to everyone in Storybrooke during the highly anticipated Once Upon a Time season finale. The current voice actor for Mickey Mouse, Bret Iwan, is set to reprise his role for the five-year-old drama.

The season finale, titled “An Untold Story,” is designed to introduce the character on the show, with the option of him becoming a regular next season or even to be featured in a possible spin-off, as the network hopes for this appearance to boost Once’s declining ratings. Should the ratings go up, the network would consider creating a Disney-themed night in an attempt to fix the Sunday night’s current ratings struggles.

So far, the only known details of Mickey’s role is that he will be tied to a storyline involving Henry and The Apprentice. It’s been speculated that the episode will render a tribute to the classic 1940 Disney film “Fantasia.”

Mickey Mouse’s appearance also opens up the possibility for well-known classic characters like Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Goofy and Pluto to appear in the near future. It is also speculated that this could be the backdoor for introducing characters from the popular Disney-Square Enix game franchise, Kingdom Hearts. Whether this option is being explored as a set up for Once Upon a Time to explore in its sixth season or to create a new spin-off altogether is yet to be seen.
