Empire – The Tameness of a Wolf and Time Shall Unfold– Double Review

Let’s review Empire’s The Tameness of a Wolf and Time Shall Unfold. What’s going on insidethe Lyons’ clan? As usual, so much it’s happening. Empire has this specific trademark of craziness and these two episodes are no exception.

The Tameness of a Wolf  celebrates Cookie’s birthday, but as expected things take unusual turns. First of all, Lucious congratulates with Hakeem for Camilla’s murder. That was gross! During Camilla’s memorial, Hakeem seems to be touched by this rapid change of circumstances.

While they are creating Lucious’ video, Cookie discovers things about her husband’s past. Lucious tells his ex wife about his mother’s suicide, which apparently happened right before him. Their bond seems to strengthen, are they going to get back together? I always loved them together, but Lucious is so devilish and I don’t want him to hurt Cookie. Cookie’s birthday must be a drama-free dinner. Her family pretends not to come to the party, but then reunites for a sweet moment: a collective Happy Birthday. Obviously, things end up ugly, when Andre asks Lucious about her mother’s bipolarity, and he refuses to admit that he knew that Andre is suffering of the same problem. As usual, Lucious can be such an a..hole. I really enjoyed this episode, because it was focused on our beloved Lyons, and it leads us to characters’ development.

Time Shall Unfold is another key-hour for Empire. It is the episode in which Anika finally reveals that she is pregnant with Hakeem’s baby. Rhonda pushes her to reveal it to the family, and as expected the world turns upside down. Lucious threatens her, Cookie and Hakeem are shocked. I would really like to watch this pregnancy ending up well. It would be interesting to add a baby to the picture. Freda is having more and more space, and she is starting a collaboration with Jamal. Cookie is really scared by her and she tries her best to end their new musical-liason, but it is useless. This episode marks also the ending of Hakeem’s reign: Lucious’ schemes help him to sabotage his son’s role as CEO, and the board votes him out. Who will be the next CEO?

These two Empire’s episodes were really fun and entertaining hours of television. I was really intrigued by the crazy-fast rhythm of the show and I hope that the following episodes will not disappoint.
