Brooklyn Nine-Nine - Greg and Larry (Season Finale) - Review: "Florida Vacation?"

Well, that was quite a cliffhanger! I thought we're done with these, but apparently not. Season 1 gave us Jake going undercover, not before telling Amy that he wishes something could happen between them. Season 2 gave us Captain Holt leaving and meeting the new captain, not before Jake and Amy properly kiss for the first time. And Season 3 gave us Jake and Holt going into Witness Protection in Florida, but not before Jake and Amy planned to move in together. This show really knows how to amp up the intensity, and I was on the edge of my seat for a lot of this episode. Loved it.

After last week's cliffhanger, anything could've happened. They did a great job of showing us how Holt got in that situation - he left to go get something for them to eat, and when he returned he saw Bob choking out their witness. "I've never been more shocked.", Holt says. And it shows! Terry and Gina start freaking out but Gina can find Holt's phone, and it showed he was still at the hospital. Hitchcock offered to drive Jake, Rosa, and Scully there, and man oh man was that funny to watch. He has nothing to live for, and he drives like it too. Meanwhile, Amy and Boyle are preparing to leave the prison. The way Amy said goodbye to the inmates was hilarious. Jake does more amazing Holt impressions, and finds that Holt is leaving messages on the hospital signs using the chocolate Jake gave him. What a tragic waste of chocolate. They follow the trail of chocolate, and THIS is why Scully became a cop. Back to Amy and Boyle, Amy gets her way on the plane by "being pregnant". This show has been so clever using Amy's "pregnancy suit" like that. They lose Holt's trail, but not before decoding some texts Holt was sending from his pocket. That gave us another great moment: "When I die, please give Kevin my regards." "What shall I tell him?" "Regards." Thanks for that, writers. I miss Kevin. So much. There's a standoff on the roof, but Terry tackles Bob, and Gina is cheering him on. And how do they get Bob out of the hospital and into Rosa's place? Simple, they wear scrubs! Excellent! Young Holt telling his teddy bear he has cancer is just...so true to Holt. I was so waiting for Holt to make a What About Bob? reference, and he did! This episode really has it all.

Amy and Boyle are on the airplane now, Amy's trying not to spiral out of control. Boyle suggests they watch 27 dresses. Terry really knows his medical knowledge, apparently it's all from Grey's Anatomy. Of course. Figgis's men start chasing Jake and Terry, and Jake knocks one of them out with a bedpan, ew. Perhaps the best and funniest scene of the episode is Holt trying to get Bob out with the help of Gina, using the ol' psychiatric patient technique. I don't think Chelsea Peretti has ever been better. They make it to Rosa's place, which is surprisingly nice. This whole sequence was excellent, with many great quotes and actions. One of the best things was the foreshadowing to witness protection and a house in Florida. Bob wasn't the one who ended up there, very clever. Amy and Boyle are eating sundaes and they made it through the flight and Amy's spiralling. The squad then take turns trying to break Bob and get him to give up the file on Figgis. They then set it up to make it look like Figgis's men are coming to Rosa's place. It was a brilliant plan involving Amy and Boyle, Rosa using a slingshot, and Rosa's panic room. Holt calls Jake son - of course. We learn about this Funky Cold Medina thing, and it's pretty great. One week later; they're all at a bar. Holt informs them that the Figgis operation is dissolving. No word on where Figgis is yet, but Pimento will come home soon. The squad does another "Nine-Nine!" chant, and like Jake, I love it when they do that. Like I said earlier, Amy and Jake plan to move in together. I was so please, they love each other SO much. But then the bombshell drops. It's Figgis calling Jake, saying him and Holt are still in danger. Fastforward, and Jake and Holt are going by Greg and Larry in sunny Florida, with neighbouring houses and all. This brings up so many questions and concerns I have. But I have many months to panic about that. It was still a wonderful episode.
