Gaius Charles (Friday Night Lights), Monique Gabriela Curnen (Fast & Furious) and James Landry Hebert (Gangster Squad) are set as series regulars opposite Clive Standen in Taken, NBC’s straight-to-series adaptation of the hit movie franchise.
Written and executive produced by Alex Cary (Homeland), who serves as showrunner, the Taken TV series is a modern-day prequel to the film franchise that depicts how Bryan Mills (Standen) developed and sharpened his particular set of skills. EuropaCorp TV USA and Universal Television are producing.
Charles will play John, a natural born leader who does not need to prove his mettle to anyone and is very charismatic in his stillness. He’s a member of Bryan’s (Standen) OPCON (Operational Control) team, an elite team of operatives who take care of America’s national security emergencies on the ground. Curnen is Vlasik, an integral member of the OPCON, a role that has been elevated to a series regular. Hebert is Casey, also a member of the OPCON team who takes it all very seriously/wound a bit tight – he is dealing with some PTSD by being very effective operationally.
