New Girl - Episode 5.10 - Review: "Goosebumps Walkaway"

And she's back! On this episode of New Girl, Jess returns from jury duty and tries to find 237-B/Gary, her fellow juror by scouring the internet with Reagan's help. Meanwhile, Nick reels from his make out session with Reagan and must decide what to do now that she is leaving the loft for good. After reading the comments, some of you shared my idea that it would be a bummer for Nick and Reagan to immediately hook up and leave it at that while others wanted some more to blossom between them before the end. I'm glad that this episode saw the re-introduction of Jess into the mix and Nick having some crisis of conscience when it comes to losing a great girl that happened to walk into his life. The "Goosebumps Walkaway" idea was sweet; I think every hopeless romantic wants to see a moment like that pan out where the guy will say one simple truth and absolutely change the girl's mind about her decision.

Reagan's confession that she was head over heels interested in Nick was a nice culmination for the character. I think their interaction with each other truly showed that people can come into your life randomly and leave all of a sudden, but have some resonating impact on who you are as a person. Meanwhile, Cece and Schmidt attend dance lessons with Winston to prep for the wedding. I can't believe that Winston's side arc has become Cece and Schmidt's. Don't get me wrong, I've thoroughly enjoyed Megan Fox's Reagan and her arc so far this season, but after last season culminating with the engagement, I thought more would be dedicated to prepping Cece and Schmidt as the forefront of the season, not an afterthought. I imagine now that Zooey Deschanel is back, the next set of episodes will be strictly spent trying to get Cece and Schmidt to the alter. I'm taking bets on if they decide to elope with the gang due to the pressures of setting the wedding up.

"Sayonara Sammy" "Those are such beautiful words!" That phone call was perfect. It was a great way for Nick to move on as well as give closure to their arc. And they didn't have sex! which I think was a good call. It would have been too cliché for them to have gone that far before the departure. I mean, it does happen in life, but I'm glad the show didn't venture into that territory. It'll be interesting to see where they take Nick and Jess after the tension wit Reagan, as well as how the events leading up to Cece and Schmidt's wedding play out. Comment below with your thoughts on the episode and tune into New Girl Tuesday's at 8/7 central.
