K. Todd Freeman will play Mr. Poe in Netflix’s series adaptation of Lemony Snicket’s A Series Of Unfortunate Events, the role played by Timothy Spall in the 2004 feature. Narrated by Snicket, A Series Of Unfortunate Events recounts the tale of the orphaned children Violet (Malina Weissman), Klaus (Louis Hynes) and Sunny Baudelaire at the hands of the villainous Count Olaf, as they face trials and tribulations, misfortunes and an evil uncle in search of their fortune, all in their quest to uncover the secret of their parents’ deaths. Barry Sonnenfeld will direct.
Freeman’s Mr. Poe is a bumbling and clueless banker with a good heart, but naive and almost always in the wrong. You can check out Spall as Mr. Poe in the photo to the right of Freeman above. Freeman, repped by D2 Management and Harden Curtis, was nominated for a Tony Award last year for Airline Highway, and he recently starred in Anesthesia opposite Kristen Stewart and Glenn Close.
