Artificial Intelligence, a sci-fi project from Luc Besson and screenwriter Bill Wheeler has landed at TNT with a put pilot commitment.
Besson (The Fifth Element, Lucy) and Wheeler (Queen of Katwe, Ghost in the Shell) will write and executive produce. The project marks Besson’s first time writing for domestic television.
It centers on an artificial intelligence that escapes from a laboratory and begins carrying out its own mysterious agenda, prompting the AI’s creator to assemble a team of specialists to deal with the situation. Matthew Gross, Edouard de Vesinne, and Thomas Anargyros also serve as executive producers.
Besson is an exec producer on Taken, the straight-to-series adaptation prequel for NBC based on the hit movie franchise. His other credits include La Femme Nikita (director) and The Lake (producer, writer).
