The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story - The Run of His Life - Review
Feb 16, 2016
American Crime Story BK ReviewsMy apologies for the late review, school has been crazy and this is the first chance I’ve had time to sit down and watch the second episode.
This episode is centered on the infamous car chase scene. Besides from the verdict I think that this was one of the events that people are still talking about today. I know I often associate this aspect the O.J. saga when I think of the trial.
The episode starts off with Kardashian praying for O.J. in his home. Robert O.J.’s other lawyer wants to do major damage control not for the case, but for his reputation. As Robert holds the press conference Johnnie watches on in disbelief. He in no way agrees with Robert is doing. This is some nice foreshadowing if you think about it. To end the press conference Kardashian reads O.J.’s suicide letter. Funny if you think about it…none of the reporters know how to pronounce Kardashian’s name, little did they know we would be hearing this name on the daily.
We then see how captivated America was by O.J. and the car chase. People are glued to the TV waiting to see what happens next. Of course people are entertained by O.J. if they weren’t this very TV show would not have been created. Everybody calls the police giving tips, but none of them pan out expect for one. A hippie couple sees the white Bronco drive by them on the freeway and calls in to notify the police.
The police follow the lead and catch up to the Bronco. They make A.C. pull over and he shows the police that O.J. is the back with a gun to his head. Instead of arresting O.J. right there, the police let A.C. continue driving following behind. They fear that O.J. may actually take his own life and harm others.
All O.J. wants to do is see his mother, so he tells A.C. to drive him there. On the journey back to Rockingham O.J. continuously has breaks downs and keeps on declaring that he should kill himself. The two men finally return to Rockinghom where a S.W.A.T and Kardashian await them. This obviously frightens both O.J. and A.C. but after some convincing from Kardashian O.J. finally surrenders and is hauled off to jail.
The episode was lackluster compared to the first one, but it was interesting to see what was actually happening in the Bronco at the time of chase. Things should pick up in this week’s episode, as it seems the trial is about to begin. I’m so excited to see Marcia in full on lawyer mode and to see more of Johnnie.
