Episode 214

Teleplay by David Kob

Story by Todd Helbing and Aaron Helbing

Directed by J J Makaro

Previously on The Flash, Barry and Cisco have travelled to Earth 2 along with Dr Harrison Wells in an attempt to rescue his daughter Jessie from Zoom. However things do not go to plan and Barry gets captured by Zoom.
Back on Earth 1 Caitlin and Jay have to fix the only remaining breach between the two worlds before their planned return. Also a Meta human by the name of Geomancer is creating tremors all over Central city.
As you can tell by the name it’s all about getting Barry and escaping Earth 2.

Zoom is on the hunt for Dr Harrison Wells (Tom Cavanagh) who realises as Cisco returns things haven’t gone according to plan and Zoom now has Barry. Seems, as we all know he wants his speed and Wells is the only one capable of helping him.

In Zooms lair (he is evil so I will go with Cisco on this one can call it a lair) Barry believes another prisoner held by Zoom is trying to communicate with them. Jessie feels hopeless but Barry (Grant Gustin) tells her how her Father has been trying to save her.

Cisco (Carlos Valdes) and Wells along with Earth 2 Barry( Barry 2 as I will refer to him throughout the rest of review) manage to avoid Zoom. I do like how geeky and wimpy they have made this Barry 2 (They go CPD and explain all to his wife Detective Iris West- Allen(Candice Patton)who is still out for revenge after Earth 2 Ronnie /Deathstorm and Caitlin/ Killer Frost, killed her father last episode.
As we learned in the previous episode Cisco cannot vibe with the glasses due to the frequency of Earth 2. However they use the Meta Human locator data devised by Barry 2 to track Killer Frost hoping she will betray Zoom as he killed her love Deathstorm.

Back on Earth 1, Caitlin (Danielle Panabaker) tries to perfect velocity 6, which ends up to 9 to give Earth 2 Flash, Jay Garrick speedster skills. The Meta human, Geomancer, calls out the second Flash. Luckily Jay mange’s to save the people and proving what a hero he can be.

One Earth 2 Zoom phases into Barry’s cage and beats him up a bit, strange how he became very angry as they try to communicate with the other prisoner in the Iron mask. They have worked out it’s a POW code he is knocking and they got the name Jay which they think is refereeing to Jay Garrick The Flash however this seems to upset the prisoner.

Jay managed to fix the breach between the two worlds (nice touch last week seeing a image of Supergirl in the portal, plus a few others) but now Geomancer has taken things to Star labs it’s up to the girls to save the day as Jay is still out for the count after his heroics. They zap him and Detective West(Jesse L Martin) takes him away. Unfortunately the shock waves Geomancer has caused made the breach unstable again.
So it’s a race to finish it before the deadline.

However, the way things are going in in Earth 2 will they make the dead line?

Killer frost seems to have a heart as icy as her name suggest but finally relents and takes them to Zooms lair. She breaks out Jessie but Barry is stuck behind his glass he can’t phase out due to Earth 2 frequencies and says he isn’t fast enough. Barry 2 (who managed to make it despite his foot wear)gives his Earth 1 counterpart a stern talking to. Nothing like a good pep talk and Barry/The Flash gets out.
Its seems Killer Frost brought them right to Zoom who now plans to kill Jessie in front of Wells, but a slight thawing of her heart and Killer Frost turns on Zoom. Barry is unable to free the third prisoner, the man in the iron mask and says he will be back. They escape but they know Zoom is not far behind.
Wells tells his daughter, who I admit sounded very bratty on about her friends, they are going to head back to Earth 1.

With another shot of velocity 9, Jay with help from Joe fixes the breach between the two worlds.

Cisco and Jessie come through first but Barry and Wells narrowly escape Zoom.
Jay closes the portal but Zoom has reached through taking Jay with him right through his chest.

The Earth 2 episodes have brought The Flash back up to what I expect from the series. Barry still seems to doubt himself far more than I would like and even wimpy Barry 2 tells him to stop.
On the opposite side Cisco’s confidence seems to be growing and now he has seen from his evil Earth 2 counterpart what he is capable of I am sure it will continue.
The man in the iron mask I am sure is going to be a twist but with the breach’s now closed it may be some time before we head back there.
Zoom taking Jay at last minute was unexpected and you can’t help feel sorry for Caitlin. Her doppelganger Killer Frost was my favourite but as unlucky in love as her counterpart.

So what did you think of the episode?
