Rizzoli and Isles - Season 6A - Recap and Review
Feb 9, 2016
DC Reviews Rizzoli and IslesRizzoli and Isles recap Season 6A recap.
On Tuesday 16th February Rizzoli and Isles returns to TNT with the last episodes of Season 6.
During this hiatus fans showed their support and the lovely Sasha Alexander followed in Angie Harmon’s footsteps with a People choice award for best actress in a cable drama.
Unfortunately the high of the fans was short lived with the poorly timed announcement by TNT that Season 7, which is currently starting production, would be the last.
However before the final Season we still have the rest of season 6 to look forward to.
This time it isn't Detective Jane Rizzoli (Angie Harmon) in Peril but Dr Maura Isles (Sasha Alexander)
Why kidnap Maura?
Is it connected to what’s happening to Jane?
Who is behind it all?
Season 6 so far has given us some darker more edger story lines with a nice balance of personal and professional.
It launched off with the drama in episode 601 and a serial killer psycho in 603. However murder round a fishing tournament, 602, and a dog show 610 proved to be very weak episodes.
The most talked about episode, apart from the mid-season finale, was 605 were sadly a beloved character was killed off but it did give us a two episode arcs as we realised events from the previous episode caused the murder of Senior Criminalist Susie Chang ( Tina Huang).
We had the return of psycho serial killers, none as disturbing as the young man who tried to get under Jane’s skin in episode 607. At the end of the episode Jane’s apartment was burned down and we all wondered if it was linked but find out later maybe not?
On the personal side we meet the one family member of Dr Maura Isles we have yet to see, her adoptive father, the other Dr Isles. We learned why Maura can’t lie and the problem between her and her father. Sage words of advice from Mama Rizzoli and they patch things up in the next episode 609 where Korsak( Bruce Mcgill) introduces the gang to Kiki (Kiki was his life coach and then became his girlfriend).
Angela Rizzoli(Lorriane Bracco) seems to be happy and is now working at the Dirty robber ,which Korsak owns. She is also dating; something for the earlier part of the season she tries to keep hidden from her family.
Nina Holiday (Idara Victor) steps out from behind her computer screen in one episode and takes a skater showing she is a bad ass.
For Jane and Maura there is not current guy of the week or boyfriend drama which detracted from the cases too much . This season they seemed more focused on work and there friendship is closer than it has ever been .
In episode 611 a road trip to L.A Thelma and Louise style, complete with powder blue convertible, brings to light someone is messing with Jane Rizzoli. All Jane’s accounts have been closed and upon return we learn a video has been sent by the hacker showing them outside Jane’s apartment with a lighter.
612 the mid- season finale , gives us a body and a clue but the clues led Jane to believe it’s her mother in danger. As time is running out they assemble at Maura’s only to realise it is Dr Isles who is missing. We witness Maura getting abducted as Jane try’s to call her.
I am hoping this storyline ‘Who is trying to make Jane suffer’ will continue as indicated by Jan Nash in various interviews. This will bring suspense that until recently has been lacking for me in the show and will leave the audience guessing.
For more in depth look at each episode be sure to check out my reviews so far and my interview with Tina Huang.
I am interested to hear who you think is responsible and why?
What do you hope to see in the last few episodes of this season?
