Ratings Breakdown
“Grease” was the word, with the live three-hour musical extravaganza on Fox at an ample 7.4 rating/11 share in the household overnights from 7-10 p.m. ET. Comparably, this finished first in each of the six half-hours. And it was just six percent below the 7.9/13 in the overnights for NBC’s live production of “The Wiz” on Thursday, Dec. 3, 2015. And that translated into 11.50 million viewers and a 3.4 rating/11 share in adults 18-49, based on the Live + Same Day data. Considering this is Fox, chances are “Grease Live!” will come in at a young skew. And you can now expect more original musical productions on Fox.
Second overall for the night in the household overnights was CBS’ older-skewing combination of “60 Minutes” (#2: 6.7/11), “Madam Secretary” (#2: 7.0/11), “The Good Wife” (#2: 5.8/ 9), which is suddenly a question mark for renewal, and sophomore “CSI: Cyber” (#2: 4.5/ 8), which is unlikely to return.
In the distant No. 3 spot was NBC care of “Dateline” (#3: 2.7/ 4) and three hours of “American Ninja Warrior,” which averaged a 2.6/ 5 in the household overnights from 8-11 p.m. and will be returning this summer. And ABC capped off this final night in January with its line-up of a repeat of “America’s Funniest Home Videos” (#4: 2.7/ 4), sophomore “Galavant” (#4: 1.3/ 2), which is unlikely to see season three, and encore telecasts of “Marvel’s Agent Carter” (#4: 0.8/ 1) and “Shark Tank” (#3: 1.5/ 3).

About the Daily Ratings
Each day (except Sunday) during the main TV Season we post the TV Ratings for the previous nights primetime shows for the major broadcast networks (ABC, CBS, CW, FOX, NBC). Cable Network ratings will be added to the Ratings Database.
The first item that gets posted (normally around 2pm GMT) is the early overnight analysis based on the early household numbers (these are not the same as the Total Viewers and 18-49 Demo numbers that are posted later).
Next, if available, we will post the Top 25 Market 18-49 Ratings to give you a rough idea of the ratings to following.
Later on (normally between 4pm-5pm GMT) we post the official early overnight Total Viewers and 18-49 Demo numbers in the table above (We also where possible now post the 18-34 and 25-54 Demo Numbers).
Finally, later in the evening (10pm-11pm GMT) or the following day, the final adjusted ratings numbers are released, these are then posted in the Ratings Database. The Final Adjusted numbers are what we use for all our Renew/Cancellation Tables, Full Season Tables, Ratings Scorecards etc (see below). Friday's Final Adjusted Ratings are normally available on the following Monday.
