For the first time since the series began the case of the week in this episode pertains directly to Lucifer. Sure, an argument can be made that the premiere case did too but that was nowhere near as close to Lucifer as this one is. When a storage container belonging to Lucifer is stolen and a guard murdered the stakes will be raised. As Chloe and Lucifer track the missing container they have many interesting encounters with everyone from a man dishing out ice cream to bikers led by a man with some very odd ambitions. This episode will challenge almost every one of Lucifer’s relationships.
Some of the supporting characters like Dan, Dr. Linda, and even Maze take a forefront in this episode as each has a very important part to play in the narrative of this episode. In fact Dan and Maze have a very fun encounter. Well, it was fun for one of them anyway. Chloe tasks Dan with a project that puts him in the direct path of Maze. When Maze encounters Dan she sees an opportunity to try and impact a change and takes it. Through her direct intervention Dan ends up in a very awkward situation that requires some crafty explaining to Trixie. However, through this situation he has his entire perspective changed regarding his family. Dan will be seen like never before.
Dr. Linda has a very big part to play in this episode. I had been hoping she would encounter someone else besides Lucifer and that has come to fruition in a big way as she continues to interact with Amenadiel disguised as a fellow therapist. His interactions with her and the advice he renders to her will lead her to a confrontation with Lucifer that may forever change their dynamic. This encounter also leaves its mark on her office and allows the audience to see Lucifer in a way like never before. The scene I’m talking about is one of my favorites of the series as Lucifer and Dr. Linda have an epic back and forth that touches on some very deep rooted issues for Lucifer. The outcome is intense and sets up some interesting and potentially dark changes for Lucifer.
Chloe may be annoyed by Lucifer but she finally admits that she likes having him around. It looks like he is starting to weasel his way into her heart but for now it looks as though they are just meant to be friends and partners. Who knows if that will change in the future or not but for now Lucifer has much more important things to worry about. With something extremely important to Lucifer missing the stakes are higher than ever before. Trust will be a very big issue for them throughout this episode as Chloe grows more and more convinced that for the first time Lucifer is actually hiding something from her.
The crime committed against Lucifer leaves the series at a point where it almost has to fully embrace its biblical and supernatural roots going forward. Cases of the week are just a part of the show but the storyline setup in this episode can’t help but lead the show towards more and more supernatural storylines.
The final seconds of this episode will leave fans jaws agape. Tune in to

I’ll leave you with this final little tidbit: In the opening moments look for Lucifer to show off his talent for singing and be prepared to be impressed because Tom Ellis does a truly outstanding job.
