Law and Order Special Victims Unit - Collateral Damages - Review

I always liked undercover Rollins. This time Rollins took a young girl from the Police Academy to pose as her niece. The plan was to catch Teddy "Brown sugar" Hawkings a former Heavyweight Champion in the act. Rollins and her "niece" Amber, posed as fans of Hawkings while attending one of his events. Soon Teddy invited Rollins and Amber downstairs to see his champion belts. When they got down there, Teddy offered Amber, a drink thinking that she was only 15.  Afterwards he asked Amber if she would like to take some modeling pictures. Amber agreed, but one photo lead to another, and each picture Teddy asked Amber to take off a piece of clothing. Then he said I have another idea, get on your knees girl. Thank goodness Rollins was standing right there,  she quickly pulled a gun on Teddy and said NYPD!! Then Benson and Carisi barged in and arrested Teddy for attempted rape. Of course Teddy pulled the old, I was just seeing how far Rollins would let me go, then I would make a citizens arrest. Actually, I've never heard a paedophile say that before, so I have to hand it to the writers on that one. After Barba told Teddy to just stop talking they have him in the act, Teddy said that he could help them take down a paedophile ring.

Always after the bigger fish the detectives agreed, Barba said he would put a good word  in with the Judge. Teddy said that the worst pictures don't show up on their chat room till after midnight. So the detectives went on a spree getting two men who were logging on and uploading pictures of children. But when they went after the third, it was an 80 year old man, who never owned a computer. Then Carisi found the poor old man's modem, that his neighbour hooked up and traced it to the family next door. When Rollins and Carisi knocked on the door they saw a familiar face, Pippa, the wife of Deputy Commissioner Hank Abraham. Rollins asked Pippa if they could use their computer, and Pippa said of course. When they got to Hanks office they caught him in the act of uploading child pornography. Everyone was shocked, and it only got worse. When Benson got to the apartment she told Pippa to get her kids and go to a hotel, because her husband needs to come down to the station.  When Tucker showed up he told Rollins to make sure everything was done by the book.

When the detectives questioned Hank, he said that he simply made a few wrong clicks on his computer. But then Barba told Hank that they found the flash drives taped to the bottom of his underwear drawer. It all just kept snowballing for the wonderful Deputy Commissioner, lucky Hank never touched his own children. At arraignment Hank was released on bail, but confined to house arrest.  Even though there were mountains of evidence leading back to Hank, he refused to admit to the crime. It wasn't until Barba told Hank that if he doesn't plead guilty, the FBI will go after him. Something must have clicked in Hank's head, because he try to kill himself. Then he decided to admit to distributing child pornography.

This episode had a lot of shocking events. For one thing, who would ever have thought Benson and Tucker would end up together. If I recall, Tucker tried to take Benson's shield a few times, not the mention Tucker almost got Cassidy killed, doing an undercover assignment for IAB. But if you watch the last few episodes there were signs. Remember a little while back when Benson got caught up in a hostage situation, and the ringleader asked Benson who at her station cares about her, cares if she lived or died, and she called Tucker.  I thought it was because he was the smartest guy for the job, but secretly it was because they had a thing going on.  Not to mention Benson started calling Tucker by his first name. But hey, love is blinded...
