When the female jogger ends up dead, the pair kidnap a young man, but their plan to harvest his kidney is interrupted by an FBI raid. In a last ditch effort to save their loved one, the pair go after another young woman. They are able to successfully transplant her organ into their relative, but not without being caught red-handed by Avery's team. Ultimately, the episode ends on a happy note, as both the donor and the transplant recipient survive, while the criminals get hauled off to jail.
In this week's subplot, Krummitz and Nelson wage a bet involving a new member of Cyber Command who is having trouble adjusting to his new job. While Nelson believes the employee won't last in his job much longer, Krummy has more faith in the young man. Krummitz ends up winning the bet, meaning Nelson is stuck doing inventory. Deciding to take the high road, Krummitz chooses to help Nelson with the arduous task.
Overall, I thought this was a solid installment. Throughout the first quarter of the episode, the writers choose not to reveal why Alan Dale and Riley Smith have hacked into the young woman's Fitbit. For me, the whole "organ harvesting" angle sort of came out of left field, but this surprising element was used effectively. Although the plot didn't break any new ground, it certainly didn't bore me.
I was not a huge fan of the Krummitz/Nelson subplot in this week's episode. Their bet came off a little mean-spirited, especially considering how green the new employee seemed. However, I am glad the writers redeemed the pair in the end by showing them working together to complete inventory.
