  • 02:20 - Cassius and Clay - Animated Comedy Series Not Going Forward At FXX
FX has opted not to proceed with animated comedy series Cassius And Clay. The project, co-created by Archer creator/executive producer Adam Reed, was originally ordered to pilot in May. In August, the pilot was picked up to series with a 10-episode order for comedy-centric FXX where it was to be paired with the seventh season of Archer.

That is no longer the plan. There had been talk that Cassius and Clay may be redeveloped. In the end, the FX brass decided not to go with the series. No additional episodes were produced beyond the pilot.

  • 24:30 - Preacher - Derek Wilson Promoted to a Series Regular
Derek Wilson (Rectify) has been promoted to series regular on AMC’s upcoming drama series Preacher.

From Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, Sony TV and AMC Studios, Preacher is based on Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon’s cult 1990s comic. The show centers on Jesse Custer (Dominic Cooper), a conflicted Preacher in a small Texas town who is inhabited by a mysterious entity that allows him to develop a highly unconventional power. Along with his ex-girlfriend, Tulip (Ruth Negga), and an Irish vampire named Cassidy (Joseph Gilgun), the three embark on a journey to literally find God. Wilson plays Donny Schenck, a Civil War re-enactor and abusive thug who gets into altercations with Jesse Custer (the Preacher). The decision to elevate the role to regular from recurring was made after the pilot was shot. Preacher is slated to premiere later this year.

  • 19:10 - Yahoo Screen - Shut Down
Yahoo has shut down Yahoo Screen, the video hub the beleaguered company launched over two years ago to unite its many original and syndicated programming under one roof.

Yahoo Screen was home to everything from the recent streaming of an overseas NFL game to licensed clips of “Saturday Night Live” to the slate of original series launched last year including former NBC comedy “Community,” from Sony Pictures Television. The ambitious originals initiative led to Yahoo declaring a $42 million writedown late last year.

The plan now is to move the video properties from Yahoo Screen to the company’s many digital magazines, where likeminded content can sit side by side. Streamed concerts from Yahoo Screen’s Live Nation channel, for instance, can now be surrounded with content from Yahoo Muisc.

“At Yahoo, we’re constantly reviewing and iterating on our products as we strive to create the best user experience,” said a Yahoo rep Monday, who confirmed the brand was shuttered last week. “With that in mind, video content from Yahoo as well as our partners has been transitioned from Yahoo Screen to our Digital Magazine properties so users can discover complementary content in one place.”
