15th June 2016 - Helen Mirren Joins Cast
Helen Mirren has joined the cast of Fast 8, the latest in Universal’s fast-moving franchise that F. Gary Gray is directing. That makes two Oscar Best Actress winners on the pic, joining Charlize Theron who also is playing a new character.
Mirren confirmed the deal to join the movie in an interview with Elle, saying “I said, ‘I’ll be in it, but only if I’m allowed to drive if I do drive in it.’ But we’ll see. We’ll see how it transpires.” Dwayne Johnson, Vin Diesel, Jason Statham, Jordana Brewster, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese and more are among the returnees for the latest installment, which has an April 14, 2017 release date and is in production now.

11th April 2016 - Scott Eastwood Joins Cast
Universal announced the casting in a tweet, declaring that “Kurt Russell’s Mr. Nobody has a new protégé Welcome @ScottEastwood to the Fast family.” Russell’s shady government agent first appeared in Furious Seven as White Nick Fury, basically, welcoming Dominic Toretto and his friend-family of gearhead militants into a brave new world of international car warlords. This announcement would seem to confirm that Russell will be returning for the eighth film, which means that next year Kurt Russell is in a Fast & Furious movie and a Guardians of the Galaxy movie, along with The LEGO Kurt Russell Movie, a project I just invented and now can’t live without.
