Viggo Mortensen plays a father raising his six children deep in the forests of the Pacific Northwest in the movie “Captain Fantastic.” Devoted to their rigorous physical and intellectual education, Ben (Mortensen) dedicates his life to transforming his kids into extraordinary adults. Isolated from society, he also instills in them a primal connection to the natural world. But when tragedy strikes, the family is forced to leave their self-created paradise.
As they re-enter society, the children must face both the excitement and perils of an unfamiliar outside world. And Ben’s journey challenges him to re-examine what it means to be a parent.
Matt Ross – already an accomplished actor – wrote and directed “Captain Fantastic," his second feature film.
SpoilerTV’s Tonya Papanikolas attended the press line for the film's premiere at the Sundance Film Festival. She got a chance to talk to Viggo Mortensen, actress Kathryn Hahn (who plays Mortensen’s brother), Matt Ross and almost all of the children in the cast. Make sure to check out the interviews below. (The final one is a montage of the kids in the film, and let us tell you – they stole the show!)
