Launching a primetime soap was one of NBC’s priorities for this development season, with a number of scripts ordered. Now Miranda’s Rights has become the first such project to get a pilot pickup. The network also has given a pilot green light to Midnight Texas, looking to expand the genre universe of veteran Grimm with a supernatural drama based on best-selling trilogy from the author of the Sookie Stackhouse series Charlaine Harris that were the base for HBO’s vampire drama True Blood. Both projects come from NBC sibling Universal Television.
