How To Get Away With Murder - Relive The Season 2 Flash Forwards + VIDEO

With ABC's Shondaland lineup on hiatus until February 11, there is a serious gap in my Thursday nights with How To Get Away With Murder no longer present. So, what better way to relive the dramatic second season than to take a look at the brilliant flash forwards that have led us to this point in the season.

Some readers may recall a similar article near the eve of the midseason finale of Murder's freshman season. It proved immensely popular with dozens of comments and a substantial page view count.

Murder's showrunners adopted a different approach to the utilization of flash forwards this time around by opting to tell us at the end of the season premiere that Annalise had been shot. The flash forwards were used to build up to that, whereas we knew much less about Annalise's husband, Sam Keating's death prior to the midseason finale in season 1. In this season, despite having seen the midseason finale, the story has only been partly told. We've seen nothing further of Annalise since she arrived at the hospital in critical condition, and we've only seen glimpses of the actions of her students as well as Frank, Bonnie and Nate following that fateful night at the Hapstall mansion.

The showrunners altered their flash forward formula from last season too - instead of showing several throughout each episode (there were 30 flash forwards in 8 episodes in season 1), there was one at the start and end of each episode except the premiere and midseason finale. This was a fantastic change because the flash forwards were longer, more watchable, easier to follow, and didn't interrupt the flow of an episode like they had a habit of doing in season 1.

However the flash forwards still presented a challenge to follow at times, so for your viewing pleasure, I've compiled them into a single video. Interestingly, the midseason finale contained many of the flash forwards we'd already seen in the episode itself, which helps a lot with timelines. The episode also added additional events, so the combined video below includes those events so everything makes sense. What's more, where the episode replayed a flash forward from an earlier episode, I included the earlier version because they were often longer and had more content. You'll see those cuts when you see a slight color grading difference and you'll also hear the backing track changing.

Each flash forward is also labeled with the episode it comes from. The episode number is followed by a flash forward number, so you know exactly when the flash forward was screened. For example, 'E05 - FF1' means the flash forward was the first one to air in the season's fifth episode.

As always, thanks for reading and watching! Share your thoughts and theories on what you think is going to happen in the comments below, and make sure to give this post a like, share, tweet and +1!

The video is 32 minutes long.
