Miranda sings, and now she acts.

Netflix has ordered Haters Back Off, an eight-episode series starring Colleen Ballinger-Evans, better known as her YouTube sensation alter ego: the talentless, tuneless, tone-deaf wannabe superstar, Miranda Sings.

The series will take a closer look at the family life of Miranda, described as “an incredibly confident, totally untalented star on the rise who continues to fail upward by the power of her belief that she was born famous, it’s just no one knows it yet.”

Ballinger-Evans’ character, notorious for her self-centered advice and off-key attempts to sing (and occasional music videos), is an early YouTube star, with her first video dating back to January 2008. She’s since grown the character into a globally touring cabaret act and appeared on Victorious and Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee with Jerry Seinfeld. Her book, Selp-Helf, climbed the New York Times bestseller list in July 2015. Presently, her YouTube channel boasts over 5.7 million subscribers.

Perry Rein and Gigi McCreery (See Dad Run, Wizards of Waverly Place) will showrun; the duo developed the series with Ballinger-Evans and her brother, Christopher Ballinger. All four will executive-produce, along with Jeff Kwatinetz and Josh Barry of The Firm. Brightlight Pictures Inc. produces.
