After fears of never seeing what happens next in this series A&E saves Unforgettable for a fourth season and now more then a year later, the opening episode of season 4 starts off pretty close to where they left off. I consider this a good thing, as many us had questions about the man claiming to be Carrie's husband.
At first I was shocked by the cliffhanger, that she had a husband and didn’t tell anyone, but now I’m just disappointed! I have to say I didn’t find that Carrie and Eddie had any chemistry so it’s no wonder that marriage didn’t work. The storyline of her having such a secret didn’t bother me that much, I just didn’t like how it all played out. First of all, Al’s reaction was more making light of it then being mad about it, which is very unsatisfying! I thought this secret coming to light would have caused some ripples in their relationship but this was not the case. In fact, it almost seems like it was just another day for those two. The ending of season 3 made me believe that those two had made a decision about their relationship apparently that's not the case either. They’re still doing that are they or aren’t they dance that they have been doing for the last 3 seasons. I couldn’t help but think this was all a bad case of déjà vu. In one of the previous seasons they ended the show the same way, where we were led to believe that Carrie and Al were moving forward but only returning to the next season in the same spot. I do have to say that I’m glad that Eddie just seemed to be around for the one episode. I wouldn’t be surprise if he shows up again but I would be disappointed if he stuck around for much longer.
Sadly in this episode we learned that some of the cast didn’t return. I was expecting that, as many of them had moved on to other projects once the show was cancelled. I’m very happy Elliot and Jay are still around but wish that Joe could have stayed as well. Though she’s no longer in the show it was nice that it was mentioned that she moved on to another job, whereas there was no mention of what happened to Rollins-Muray. It really aggravates me when shows don’t explain what happened to characters, especially when they were on the show for a couple of seasons. It makes me wonder who else could disappear without any mention. The new additions to the team seem like good characters so it will be interesting to see if we learn more about them or not.
Once I moved past the fact that I didn’t care for the Eddie storyline the police case was a good one. It was not overly complex which is just what they needed, otherwise there would have been just too much going on. After so many seasons of this show I still love the originality of the main character being able to remember everything and using that to fight crime.
It may seem like i didn’t care for the episode but I did like it, and I'm so happy that we get another season of it. It was a very traditional Unforgettable episode, which was nice. I did notice that they show took some liberties that being on Cable allows them, such as some cursing and a few PG 14 topics. I wondered if being on A&E now would change the show in any way, and so far doesn’t seem like it has changed too much. Overall, I just had high hopes for this episode as it was in a way a comeback episode, and maybe that was the problem. My hopes were just too high. I worry that if they don't move forward with the Carrie and Al relationship or if nothing really changes in the show, it would be like another season went by without any development. And with this being a revived season I would hate for it to end without anything story development or closure. What did you think of this episode, did it meet your expectations?
